Many stars already have, of course, and we’ve collated an XI of players who could potentially move to the Premier League this summer…

GK) Guillermo Ochoa – Mexico

DC) Mats Hummels – Germany

Manchester United are desperate to sign Hummels, who is Germany’s best defender – but they’ll do well to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell.

Holland’s powerful central defender starred in the Dutch league for Feyenoord last term, and is another centre-back on the radar of new United boss Louis van Gaal – who of course manages him now for the national side.

Liverpool are set to make a £12m bid for Rojo, but know they face competition from Barcelona for his signature.

MC) Toni Kroos – Germany

Barcelona are front runners for the Bayern Munich pass master, but a number of clubs, including Chelsea, could make bids for German playmaker should he become available.

MC) Javier Mascherano – Argentina

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to re-sign their former midfield battler, but Arsenal and Manchester United could also be interested. A chance to play his favoured central midfield rather than in defence may tempt him…

AMR) Arjen Robben – Holland

Apparently Louis van Gaal has told United to do everything they can to snare arguably the player of the World Cup so far – Arjen Robben. The Bayern owned winger has dazzled so far, providing pace and goals aplenty.

AML) Juan Cuadrado – Colombia

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be in Brazil to discuss terms with the agent of the increasingly impressive Colombian wide man – who starred for Fiorentina in Serie A last term.

AMC/FC) Alexis Sanchez – Chile

Liverpool are desperate to strengthen ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign, and according to former club captain Phil Thompson, a £27m deal has already been agreed. 

FC) Mario Mandzukic – Croatia

The Bayern Munich man is surplus to requirements at the Allianz, and a host of Premier League clubs, but also Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, could compete for his signature.
