Chelsea have already wrapped up one deal this summer, for world-class Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas – and if reports are to believed, they could be on the verge of bringing in four more stars to form a formidable squad of the start of the 2014/15 season.

Here’s the five players who could arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer, amassing a mammoth potential sum of £154m. The £40m David Luiz sale could help fund this however, as could the potential transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Tottenham Hotspur...

1) Cesc Fabregas – £27m (Signed)

The mercurial Spanish midfielder arrived at Stamford Bridge for £27m, which is a huge potential bargain when you consider Manchester United just splashed out £33m on teenager defender Luke Shaw. Fabregas is a wonderful passer, and proved during his time in England previously with Arsenal that he can score, create, and help his side win the ball back as well. A fantastic addition.

2) Diego Costa – £32m (Imminent signing)

The man charged with solving Chelsea’s striker problem, Costa will likely arrive for £32m in the coming weeks. The Spanish powerhouse endured a miserable World Cup, but won La Liga last season with Atletico Madrid – and scored 36 goals in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s men. He can hold the ball up, finish off either foot, and could potentially provide the Blues with a brilliant spearhead.

3) Filipe Luis – £19m (Imminent signing)

Another star set to arrive from Atletico Madrid, Filipe Luis was rated by many as the best left-back in European football last term, but perhaps unfairly was left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad. His arrival will mean the departure of Ashley Cole on a free will be unnoticed, and will allow Cesar Azpilicueta to move over to his more comfortable right-back role.

2) Paul Pogba – £60m (Rumoured target)

The most ambitious of Chelsea’s summer targets, the Blues want to add Pogba to a midfield which will include Fabregas and Nemanja Matic. It will likely cost them £60m, but with Pogba only 21-years-old and already one of Europe’s best, it could be a sound investment. He would add a driving box-to-box influence for the Blues, with Matic sitting and Fabregas in the no.10 role. The player himself is clearly not totally abject to the idea, as he was recently filmed playing with himself in a Chelsea side on Football Manager!

1) Emmanuel Emenike – £16m (Rumoured target)

Although Costa will arrive as the main forward, rumours are rife that Nigerian Emenike will be signed from Turkish side Fenerbahce as backup. He’s quick, and prides himself on his ability to work the channels. In this respect, he’d provide an excellent bench option – and a £16m offer is likely to test his parent club. Samuel Eto’o has left and Lukaku could be on his way – meaning Fernando Torres and Demba Ba may be kept on to complete the striker roster ahead of 2014/15.
