Although the transfer window doesn’t officially open until tomorrow morning, a whole host of impressive deals have already been completed. Based on value for money, a player’s ability and the intelligence of the signings, here’s our ten best transfers of the summer so far.

10) Rickie Lambert – Southampton to Liverpool (£4m)

Lambert was one of only 14 players in the whole of Europe last season who reached double figures for both goals and assists in the top five European leagues. He’s ageing, but is someone who can create and finish – and will be very helpful coming off Liverpool’s bench next season – especially as he’s a supporter of the club as well.

9) Bafetimbi Gomis – Unattached to Swansea (Free)

The French striker has signed for Swansea, having bagged over 100 Ligue 1 goals during his career, and having scored three for his country as well. For a free transfer, his signing seems a serious bargain.

8) Ciro Immobile – Juventus (who bought his contract up from Torino) to Borussia Dortmund (£17m)

The young Italian forward was unbelievable in Serie A last term, notching 22 goals, and earning himself a move to the Bundesliga in the process. He can finish off either foot, and will likely provide a solid replacement for the departing Robert Lewandowski.

7) Luke Shaw – Southampton to Manchester United (£27m)

Granted, the transfer fee is huge – but if Shaw develops into one of the world’s very best left-backs, which he has more than enough talent to do – it could be money well spent. With the teenager two years from 20, he could potentially start on the left of United’s defence for the next decade at least.

6) Adran Ramos – Hertha to Borussia Dortmund (8m)

The Colombian is currently excelling at the World Cup, and he’ll be moving to Dortmund after the competition. In Germany last year, he scored 16 goals from attacking midfield.

5) Alen Halilovic – Dinamo Zagreb to Barcelona (7m)

The young Croat is rated by many as the most promising teenagers in the world – and he’ll be honing his skills next year with Barcelona B – in the hope that he’ll soon be ready to start alongside Neymar and Messi in the first-team.

4) Ivan Rakitic – Sevilla to Barcelona (£16m)

Rakitic provided a consistently impressive bombarding midfield presence while skippering Sevilla. He led his side to Europa League glory, and at £16m, seems a huge bargain for the Catalan giants. Expect him to play games ahead of Xavi next season.

3) Josip Drmic – Nurnberg to Bayer Leverkusen (£6m)

The 21-year-old Swiss scored 17 Bundesliga goals, and his £6m transfer fee seems like a serious bargain. Drmic can play either wing, but prefers a central role. He could become a European renowned player if he continues his rapid development.

2) Cesc Fabregas – Barcelona to Chelsea (£27.5m)

When you consider Liverpool are set to pay the same money for Adam Lallana, Chelsea’s Fabregas signing seems like a serious bargain. The Spanish midfielder proved himself as one of the very best midfielders in the country during his time with Arsenal – and he could well be the final piece in Jose Mourinho’s Blues jigsaw.

1) Robert Lewandowski – Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich (Free)

One of the very best strikers in world football, Robert Lewandowski has signed for Bayern Munich on a free transfer. Not only does this significantly strengthen their forward line, but it also weakens their only real Bundesliga rivals – Dortmund.
