Seven Things Arsenal & Liverpool Fans Need To Know About Transfer Target Alexis Sanchez

The Barcelona forward could be on his way to England.

If reports in the Independent are to be believed the FC Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez is on his way to either Arsenal or Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old had been impressing with Chile at the 2014 World Cup before his nation were eliminated by hosts Brazil on Saturday.

So for Gunners and Reds fans excited by the prospect of seeing Sanchez strutting his stuff in England, here are seven things they need to know about the South American.

Can play anywhere in the forward line

Although generally operates from the right flank, the Chilean is famed for his versatility and can also play as a No.9, a secondary striker and also on the left.

It means that Sanchez can fit into a number of systems and makes him a desirable addition to any side.

Nicknamed ‘the Boy Wonder’

After making his debut for Cobreloa in his home nation aged just 16-years-old, the attacker was dubbed by a journalist as ‘El Niño Maravilla’ – which translates to the boy wonder.

Although no longer a boy the nickname stuck and Sanchez is still called it to this day.

Worked under Bielsa and Guardiola

Two of the most influential coaches of the modern game are Marc Bielsa and Pep Guardiola and despite still being relatively young the South America ace has worked with them both.

Guardiola signed Sanchez for Barca in 2011, whilst the player worked under Bielsa when the Argentine was in charge of his national team.

Has played in four different countries

As well as playing in his home country and now in Spain the attacking star is well traveled and has also played in Argentina and Italy with River Plate and Udinese.

This means Sanchez should have no issues settling in England.

International experience

The attacker may still be quite young but in terms of experience the Chilean is a seasoned pro, with 60 caps for his national team already.

Sanchez is the icon of a country on the rise, with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal making up a world-class duo.

Is greatly decorated

Other than when with Udinese the South American has won silverware with all of his clubs, including La Liga and the FIFA Club World Cup with Barca.

This experience should make Sanchez the ideal player at a top English side.

Most expensive Chilean in history

Upon signing for the Catalans in 2011 the forward became the most expensive Chilean in history at £37.5m.
