Ten Most Wanted Liverpool Summer Transfer Targets as Brendan Rodgers Prepare Anfield Spree

10 players who are hotly tipped to be part of the Anfield side’s continued regeneration after a strong campaign in 2013/14 secured a coveted Champions League return.

10. Juan Iturbe (FC Porto)

Pint sized Argentine attacker has long been on the Liverpool radar and is a player with obvious potential who very much adheres to the club’s youthful transfer policy. One stumbling block could be the 20 year old’s asking price with FC Porto having previously valued the forward at a wildly inflated price.

9. Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisbon)

Talented Argentine defender could be the ideal man to help solidify things at the back with Brendan Rodgers in need of strong options at the back after a fairly leaky defensive performance in 2013/14. 24 year old Sporting Lisbon man can be used effectively at the centre of the defence and at left-back.

8. Lazar Markovic (Benfica)

Talented Serbian is a hot prospect but much like Iturbe is a player who could have a very high asking price. Rodgers may well be keen on the 20 year old but after just one season at Benfica it’s hard to judge just how likely he is to make an impact at the highest level.

7. Divock Origi (Lille)

Belgian attacker has impressed at the World Cup finals after a breakthrough season at Lille and according to some sources the 19 year old has all but agreed a move to Anfield where he will initially provide an excellent back up option to the Merseyside club’s starting options and is a better weapon for this role than the likes of Iago Aspas and Fabio Borini.

6. Dejan Lovren (Southampton)

Strong defender has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, keeping it tight at the back at Southampton, and is now likely to be one of many to leave the south-coast side. The rock solid Croatian could be the ideal man to line-up alongside similarly uncompromising centre-back Martin Skrtel.

5. Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona)

Frequently cited as a player Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in, either as a third prong of an attack alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge or perhaps as part of any deal that could see the disgraced Uruguayan move to the Nou Camp. Barcelona man had his best season in La Liga to date last term and impressed at the World Cup before his Chilean side were knocked out by Brazil.

4. Alberto Moreno (Sevilla)

Spanish left-back has seemingly been close to joining Liverpool this summer but as yet no deal has been struck as Brendan Rodgers seeks a replacement for his current first choice starter in the role, Jose Enrique. The youngster appears likely to leave Sevilla though a lot could depend on just how much the La Liga side wants for his services.

3. Guillermo Ochoa (Free Agent)

Simon Mignolet made a number of errors in an otherwise solid first season at Anfield and with Brad Jones not being a high quality back-up there is every chance that Rodgers would push to bring in excellent Mexican Ochoa. The custodian lit up the World Cup and is available on a free transfer.

2. Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)

Liverpool have been in ongoing talks with the Swiss international for some weeks and Brendan Rodgers appears keen to bring in a fresh wide attacking option having seemingly passed on the option to sign loaned in Chelsea man Victor Moses after an average temporary spell at the club. Shaqiri only started ten Bundesliga fixtures last term and has shown just what he is capable of during the World Cup finals, netting a hat-trick against Honduras.

1. Adam Lallana (Southampton)

England man looks very likely to complete a move to Anfield having reportedly already passed a medical and agreed terms with Liverpool. 26 year old has a superb season at Southampton last term but may have felt the time is right to move on, his spot in Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup squad further evidence of his very obvious quality.
