This XI of players set to compete in the World Cup quarters in the coming days have all been linked with transfers this summer, and could complete moves when they’ve finished in Brazil this summer…

GK) David Ospina – Colombia

Ospina’s excelled for arguably the stand-out country in the World Cup so far, and has earned himself heavy links to Premier League giants Arsenal as a result. He could therefore arrive at the Emirates from nice, and compete with Wojciech Szczesny for the no.1 jersey.

DR) Mathieu Debuchy – France

Arsenal are ready to pay £12m for Newcastle’s French right-back, and if reports in the Metro are to be believed, the defender could wrap up a move to the Emirates to replace his international colleague Bacary Sagna when the tournament is finished.

DC) Mats Hummels – Germany

Manchester United are lining up a final £20m bid for Borussia Dortmund‘s world-class defender. The German is brilliantly composed on the ball, but has a physical edge to his game as well.

DC) Stefan de Vrij – Holland

The Dutch central defender is expected to link up again with his national manager Louis van Gaal at Manchester United when the World Cup reaches its conclusion. First, he has a quarter-final to play against surprise package Costa Rica.

DL) Marcos Rojo – Argentina

Barcelona and Liverpool are both chasing the Argentine left-back, who’s done well so far at this summer’s tournament – when most of his teammates (barring Lionel Messi) have so far failed to reach the levels expected of them.

MC) Toni Kroos – Germany

Bild claim that Real Madrid have agreed a €25m deal for Bayern Munich’s pass-master. Kroos has run his contract down at the Allianz, which has forced his club to consider selling their home grown midfielder.

MC) Paul Pogba – France

Chelsea have been linked with a £60m bid for arguably the best young midfielder in the world, by the Express, among others, but a deal could be stopped if Juventus sell their other world-class midfielder Arturo Vidal.

AML) Antoine Griezmann – France

Griezmann excelled for Real Sociedad in La Liga last season, scoring 16 goals, which earned him a call-up to France’s World Cup squad. It’s no surprise that Parisian giants PSG are closely monitoring the winger with a view to a £25m bid in the coming weeks.

AMC) James Rodriguez – Colombia

Probably the best player at this summer’s World Cup so far, Rodriguez has been linked heavily with a £40m Real Madrid move thanks to his five goals in Brazil so far.

AMR) Angel di Maria – Argentina

The Argentine winger has not been anywhere near his best for his country this summer, but did score the goal that saw Argentina qualify for the quarters. Real Madrid are apparently ready to accept £40m for his services.

FC) Divock Origi – Belgium

The wonderkid is the only teenager to score a goal at this summer’s World Cup so far – and is reportedly close to a move to Liverpool, with the Reds ready to pay Lille £11m for his services.
