Based only on actual figures quoted in the press so far this summer, here are the ten most expensive deals that could happen this summer, ranging from an enormous £37m, to a quite monstrous £80m.

10) William Carvalho – Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United for £37m

United will be allowed to sign the talented Portuguese midfield powerhouse, but only if they meet the 22-year-old’s buy-out-clause, which is set at a very high £37m. The Red Devils have cash to burn though, and could splash out on the man who was barely given a chance at this summer’s World Cup.

9) Eliaquim Mangala – FC Porto to Manchester City for £38m

City have already signed Mangala’s Porto teammate Fernando for £12m, and with the Portuguese club wanting £50m for the pair last January, they clearly rate French centre-back Mangala at £38m. Manuel Pellegrini sees him as the perfect man to partner Vincent Kompany at the back.

8) Juan Cuadrado – Fiorentina to Manchester United, Barcelona or Bayern Munich for £40m

The English giants have already lodged a giant £32m bid for the Colombian, who’s been one of the stars of the World Cup so far. Cuadrado is wanted by Barca and Bayern though, so understandably, La Viola want closer to £40m for his services.

7) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United to Chelsea for £40m

Jose Mourinho tried to sign Rooney last summer, and if reports in the Daily Star are to be believed, he’ll go in for the Englishman once again. United are unlikely to entertain an offer of even £40m, however.

6) James Rodriguez – AS Monaco to Real Madrid for £40m

We reckon this quoted fee in the Daily Mail is way off, as Rodriguez moved to AS Monaco for roughly the same fee last summer – and in the past month at the World Cup he’s announced himself as one of the world’s best players with a series of jaw-dropping goals and performances. It’s no surprise that Los Blancos want him, however.

5) Angel di Maria – Real Madrid to PSG or Arsenal for £4om

Arsenal want the talented Argentine, but PSG are the favourites for the coveted Argentine’s signature. The wide man will be hoping to make a potential transfer on the back of a World Cup win in Brazil this summer.

4) Falcao – AS Monaco to Real Madrid for £48m

The Colombian, along with James Rodriguez, could move from AS Monaco to Real Madrid this summer. Falcao proved during his time in Spain that he’s capable of scoring goals for fun in La Liga.

3) Arturo Vidal – Juventus to Manchester United for £48m

The Chilean battler is a mega money target for Louis van Gaal’s new United regime. His ability to combine unbelievable energy and drive in midfield, but also contribute goals and assists – make him probably worth the money as well.

2) Paul Pogba – Juventus to Chelsea for £60m

Arguably the best young midfielder in the world, Pogba could be the final piece in Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea jigsaw, having already snared Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa this summer. The Frenchman’s price tag though stands at a phenomenal £60m.

1) Luis Suarez – Liverpool to Barcelona for £80m

Liverpool will apparently refuse to sell the brilliant, but controversial striker for less than £80m. He has plenty of years left on his contract, meaning the Reds will not have to budge on the fee – and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona will be willing to stump up the cash – although they could use Alexis Sanchez as a bargaining tool.
