The 5 Most Uninspiring Possible Transfers Of The Summer, With Liverpool Chasing Ryan Bertrand

Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham targets also feature!

Find out who are the most valuable players in world football.

The footballing summer is always jam-packed full of transfer rumours, and while many excite fans of the mentioned clubs, some leave supporters shaking their head in unimpressed disbelief.

Here’s five rumours so far that we can’t imagine will have gone down too brilliantly with fans of the buying sides!

5) Ryan Bertrand – Chelsea to Liverpool

Only one team in England finished above Liverpool last term, so naturally, fans expected them to be targeting some of Europe’s premier left-backs this summer. After missing out on Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno, they’ve been linked to Chelsea reject Ryan Bertrand for £7m, who failed to impress whilst on loan at Aston Villa last season… How can Liverpool expect to finish above Chelsea once again if they’re looking to sign players who can’t get anywhere near Jose Mourinho’s side…?

4) Loic Remy – QPR to Arsenal

If reports are to believed, Arsenal are prepared to match Remy’s £8m release clause, and bring him to the Emirates to compete with Olivier Giroud for the striker position. Remy’s a good player, but he didn’t tear up any trees while on loan at Newcastle last year, and is by no means the world-class striker fans were hoping for. He arguably is inferior to Giroud anyway – and if he’s the only forward Arsenal bring in, fans will be annoyed when rivals Chelsea have secured Diego Costa for £32m.

3) Thomas Vermaelen – Arsenal to Manchester United

Arsenal’s club captain couldn’t get in the side last term, and he’s been on the bench for the Belgium side at this summer’s World Cup as well. Manchester United stalwarts Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have left this summer, and Vermaelen is hardly the world renowned ‘Mats Hummels-esque’ defender the fans were hoping the club would replace them with. The £11m suggested fee is hardly cheap either.

4) William Carvalho – Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United

While the Portuguese midfielder is undeniably talented, and enjoyed a promising season with Sporting last time out, his £37m asking price is ridiculously inflated. This is a player with six caps, who’s only made 30 Portuguese top flight appearances in his entire career to date. Even if William Carvalho does maximise his ability, a player who’s essentially a combative midfield work-horse should never be worth such a sum.

5) Wilfried Bony, Michel Vorm and Ben Davies – Swansea to Tottenham

There have been wide reports… wait for it… that Spurs could spend £50m on these three players from almost relegated Swansea. That’s the same money Barcelona acquired Neymar for, twice what Chelsea just paid for Cesc Fabregas, and roughly what Zinedine Zidane once moved to Real Madrid for in the early noughties. If Tottenham pay anywhere near that much money for the three Swansea stars, the Welsh club will be laughing all the way to the bank.
