Chelsea have already agreed a deal to sign Diego Costa from Atetico Madrid, but with Samuel Eto’o’s contract expired, and returning loan forward Romelu Lukaku possibly spending the 2014/15 season at Atletico Madrid, they could need another forward to back up the £32m Spaniard.

Here’s five they could go for:

5) Emmanuel Emenike – Fenerbahce

The Nigerian forward is powerful, direct and can finish off either foot – and his performances at this summer’s World Cup were impressive. The Blues have been linked with a £15m bid for the forward.

4) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Borussia Dortmund

The 25-year-old Gabon international did excellently during his debut season in Germany, notching 16 goals in all competitions, and impressing especially with his electrifying pace. The Blues could make a potentially bargain £7m bid for his services.

3) Vincent Aboubakar– Lorient

The Cameroonian striker didn’t excel at the World Cup, but only Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored more goals in Ligue 1 than him last season – with the pacey forward bagging 16. He’s only 22-years-old, and has all the traits Jose Mourinho likes in a forward.

2) Mario Balotelli – AC Milan

The Italian maverick has done very well at AC Milan since joining from Manchester City, but is apparently available to sign this summer regardless.  He’s worked with Jose Mourinho before, and can play anywhere along the front three – although the centre-forward position is his favourite.

1) Alexandre Lacazette – Lyon

The French forward is incredibly quick, and while he’s comfortable on the left, he’s more at home when given a pivotal striking role. The 23-year-old scored 15 in Ligue 1, and also contributed three assists last season.
