Man United are also pursuing Colombian youngster James Rodriguez with Louis van Gaal no doubt impressed by the World Cup displays put in by the AS Monaco man.
The Ligue 1 side are reportedly ready to consider offers for the 22 year old but will demand at least £60m for the player they bought less than a year ago from FC Porto for a fee or around £35m.
Rodriguez enjoyed a strong first season in the French top tier, finishing the season as the leading assist maker in Ligue 1, and there is understandably a lot of interest in the creative midfielder following his six goal haul in Brazil.
Real Madrid are also pursuing Rodriguez, who appears to favour a move to La Liga, stating that his attributes may lend themselves more easily to a move to Spain over a possible Premier League switch;
“I’ve said in the past that I’d like to play in Spain one day, because it is a league that is good technically, and where you get a lot of touches on the ball, which is my style.
“The Premier League is maybe a bit physical at this stage. But I am a Monaco player and I’m not thinking about anything like that at the moment.”
