Six Semifinalists Who Could Be On The Move After The World Cup: Arsenal & Chelsea Deals Included

Spurs, Man United, City and Real Madrid also feature.

Friday and Saturday saw Germany, Brazil, Argentina and the Netherlands book their places in the last four of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

All 92 players within the four 23-man squads will have nothing but international glory on their minds right now.

However, once the World Cup is over, they will switch their focus to club matters, with many of them the subject of transfer speculation.

We identify six players who we think could be on the move once their nation’s World Cup campaigns are over.

Joel Veltman – Netherlands

Linked with Tottenham and Arsenal

Defender Veltman has only received 15 minutes of game time so far at the World Cup, where his single appearance came as a sub in the Netherlands’ 5-1 win over Spain.

However, the 22-year-old featured much more frequently for club Ajax last season, starting 24 Eredivisie games.

Veltman would be a great addition for Spurs or Arsenal, both of whom are keen.

Ezequiel Garay – Argentina

Set for Zenit St Petersburg

Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Monaco were all rumoured to be keen on Benfica defender Garay.

However, the 27-year-old will join former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas at Russian side Zenit after the World Cup.

Garay has started all five of Argentina’s games in Brazil this summer.Toni Kroos – Germany

Linked with Real Madrid

Kroos, who has provided two assists in five starts at the World Cup, has just 12 months left on his current contract at Bayern Munich.

Manchester United are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old, but he looks set to join Champions League winners Real Madrid for a fee in the region of £20m.

Kroos will win his 50th senior international cap when Germany meet hosts Brazil in the semi-finals on Tuesday.Ezequiel Lavezzi – Argentina

Linked with Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been tracking the 29-year-old PSG playmaker for the past two transfer windows and it seems that he is now ready to make his move.

A transfer fee of £18m has been mooted for Lavezzi, who has started two games and made two sub appearances at the 2014 World Cup.

Lavezzi’s biggest contribution in Brazil has been setting up Lionel Messi for the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Iran.Tim Krul – Netherlands

Linked with Tottenham

Newcastle United goalkeeper Krul stole the show during the fourth quarter-final.

The 26-year-old came off the bench in the 120th of the Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with Costa Rica to make his first appearance of the World Cup.

His time on the pitch was brief, but he pulled off two excellent saves as the Dutch prevailed 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

Spurs were keen on Krul prior to his spot-kick heroics and an asking price of £10m had been suggested. He may be a tad more expensive now.Memphis Depay – Netherlands

Linked with Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City

PSV winger Depay has admitted that he is aware of interest in him from the above clubs.

That interest is understandable, considering what we have witnessed of him at the World Cup.

Depay, 20, has made four appearances, including three as a sub. He has scored two goals and provided one assist in Brazil.
