Mario Mandzukic To Atletico Madrid Confirmed: Arsenal Target To Join La Liga Champions

Gunners to miss out on the Croatian version of Super Mario.

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has confirmed that a verbal agreement has been struck with Atletico Madrid for the sale of Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic.

Arsenal had been linked with interest in Mandzukic, who scored 18 Bundesliga goals last season, but he now seems set to join the champions of Spain.

Sammer revealed the news of Bayern’s agreement with Atletico on the same day that new signing Robert Lewandowski was officially unveiled at the Allianz Arena.

Poland international Lewandowski, who scored 20 Bundesliga goals for Borussia Dortmund last term, joins on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for Mandzukic, 28.
