The Stupidest Transfer Rumours Of The Summer, With Farcical Liverpool & Chelsea Links

Ronaldinho to QPR included!

Yaya Toure from Manchester City to Liverpool

As much as Liverpool fans would no doubt love this to be true, we can’t really see Premier League champions allowing their best player to leave and join the club that they pipped to the title last term. If Toure does leave, which is looking increasingly likely, it will almost definitely be  abroad.

Ronaldinho from Atletico Mineiro to Stoke City

Our favourite transfer rumour of the summer, but also, the most unlikely. Can you imagine the former Ballon D’or winner – who puts in minimal work on a football field – thriving at the Britannia?! Neither can we. But what’s more – why would he want to join in the first place!

Ronaldinho from Atletico Mineiro to QPR

Or if the Stoke rumour doesn’t take your fancy, he could always join QPR instead. Harry Redknapp, Joey Barton and Ronaldinho. The stuff dreams are made of.

Wilfried Bony, Ben Davies & Michel Vorm from Swansea to Spurs (for £50m!)

If Tottenham, or any club ever agreed to pay £50m for an ageing keeper, a talented but unproven left-back – and a powerful (but certainly not world-class) striker – football will have well and truly gone mad. Spurs simply won’t agree to such a bizarre transfer.

Wayne Rooney from Manchester United to Chelsea

It didn’t happen last season, and after he signed a £300k per week contract extension with the Red Devils, it certainly won’t happen this summer either. But it keeps getting published nonetheless!

Raheem Sterling from Liverpool to Real Madrid (to replace Ronaldo!)

Sterling’s been excellent for the Reds, but this report claimed that Real Madrid were lining up the 19-year-old, who only won a regular starting spot half way through last season, as a replacement for Ronaldo, should injuries get the better of the Portuguese. To clarify, Ronaldo’s notched 252 goals in 246 matches for Los Blancos…

Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle to Bayern Munich

Debuchy’s about to join Arsenal – but we really don’t think he did enough during an average season with Newcastle to warrant links to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern team – especially she he has both Philipp Lahm and Rafinha at his disposal already.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea

Bare with us – the thing stupid about this rumour is the quoted price! Aubemeyang, who scored 16 goals in his debut season in Germany, and cost Dortmund £26m last summer, could apparently move to the Blues for just £7m! With Dortmund having had to let Robert Lewandoswki leave for free, they’d never let the Gabonese depart for so cheaply as well.
