AC Milan have confirmed via their Twitter account that they have completed the permanent signing of French international defender Adil Rami from Spanish side Valencia.

The Frenchman spent last season on loan at the San Siro and both parties were keen on a permanent deal.

On Friday the move had seemed to collapse over the player’s wage demands. However, the deal – believed to be worth around £4m – has now gone through, with Rami signing a three-year contract with the Serie A giants.

Rami joined Valencia from Lille in 2011, making 61 league appearances for the Spaniards and scoring two goals. He has been capped 26 times at international level since making his debut in 2010, netting his only goal against Iceland in May 2012. He was not a part of the 2014 World Cup squad.

Milan finished eighth in the Italian league last season, and are eager to improve after several difficult years. Club legend Filippo Inzaghi will lead the club as manager during the 2014-15 campaign after the departure of Clarence Seedorf.
