Speculation has been mounting over a prospective move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks, with Di Maria said to have already agreed personal terms with Louis van Gaal’s men.
However, it now appears that the Argentine, who will likely feature in Sunday’s World Cup final against Germany, will turn his back on a move to the northwest as he favours finding a club capable of offering him Champions League football.
United will miss out on all forms of European football next term after a poor season under the stewardship of David Moyes saw them record their worst ever Premier League finish by coming seventh.
So far the lack of European competition has not deterred the club too much, as new boss Louis Van Gaal has been able to bring the likes of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera on board.
However, their quest for Di Maria looks to be over as the likes of PSG and Juventus are also interested in his services.
