Twitter explodes after Everton star is overlooked for goalkeeping award.
FIFA announced a three-man shortlist for the 2014 World Cup’s Golden Glove award on Friday.
Sergio Romero and Manuel Neuer, who will play for Argentina and Germany respectively in Sunday’s final, are joined by Costa Rica stopper Keylor Navas.
Romero has kept four clean sheets in six games at the tournament so far and the 27-year-old saved two penalties as Argentina beat the Netherlands in a semi-final shootout.
Bayern Munich star Neuer, who has impressed as a sweeper keeper, has kept three clean sheets in six games, while Levante man Navas conceded just two goals in over 510 minutes of football.
Many fans feel that Everton and USA goalkeeper Tim Howard should have made the list.
Howard, 35, set a World Cup record by making 16 saves in one match – the USA’s 2-1 extra-time defeat to Belgium in the first knockout round.
Some football supporters also feel that Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa deserved to be recognised by FIFA.
