Five Transfers That Look Close To Completion, With Arsenal To Seal £8m Defender & Man United’s Move For La Liga Star

Five moves we think could be finalised soon.

5) Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle United to Arsenal)

Rumours are hotting up that Arsenal will soon be set to unveil a new signing at right-back with the arrival of French international Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United. With Bacary Sagna leaving on a free transfer to Manchester City earlier this summer, a new addition on the right-hand side of defence has been a priority for Arsene Wenger, with Toulouse and Ivory Coast youngster Serge Aurier also being linked as a possible target. Still, Debuchy now looks like the player set to come in, and will make another top signing for Arsenal to follow up the arrival of Alexis Sanchez this week, arriving for what looks like a bargain price of just £8m.

4) Patrice Evra (Manchester United to Juventus)

Despite recently signing a new contract with Manchester United, veteran French left-back Patrice Evra looks set for something of a surprise summer exit after requesting permission to hold talks with Italian champions Juventus. The 33-year-old has been a terrific servant for the Red Devils in his eight years at the club, winning a whole host of major honours, but now looks set to be replaced at left-back by new signing Luke Shaw, with the impressive England youngster completing a big-money move from Southampton earlier this summer. Still, Evra has performed well for France at the World Cup, showing he could still have one more big move left in him in his career.

3) Eliaquim Mangala (Porto to Manchester City)

One of the most in-demand young defenders in Europe for some time now, it is being reported that Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Porto centre-back Eliaquim Mangala. The 23-year-old is a superb talent and has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona in the past, but may now have chosen a £32m move to the Etihad Stadium to improve Manuel Pellegrini’s options at the back. Although there was some question in Mangala’s mind about whether to sign for City, he now seems to have been convinced, and looks all set to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer, following his former Porto team-mate Fernando to Manchester.

2) Lazar Markovic (Benfica to Liverpool)

Pictured at an airport on his way to completing a move from Benfica to Liverpool, Lazar Markovic looks likely to be announced as another major player on the move this summer. The talented Serbian youngster is one of the most highly regarded prospects in European football at the moment, and should prove a good addition for the Reds following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, which was confirmed on Saturday afternoon. Markovic has long been linked as a top target for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and he now looks to have got hold of the player, who will join the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can as part of a new-look squad at Anfield next season.

1) Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid to Manchester United)

In what would be up there with one of the signings of the summer, Manchester United could be set to pull off a superb transfer with the purchase of Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria. The Argentine was in fine form for the Spanish giants last season, scoring 11 goals and providing a further 26 assists in all competitions to help Carlo Ancelotti’s side to victories in the Champions League and Copa del Rey. Di Maria could also become a World Cup winner before sealing a move to Old Trafford, as his Argentina side take on Germany in Brazil this Sunday. Paris Saint-Germain are also being linked with Di Maria, but some reports suggest United are working on a deal to sign the talented attacker, who is available for around £40m.
