Liverpool ‘Only New Signings’ XI In 2014/15, With Lazar Markovic, Real Madrid Youngster & Southampton Trio

Reds set for massive influx of new signings this summer…

Liverpool have been linked with more players this summer than arguably any other club…

Now that Luis Suarez has been sold for £75m as well, manager Brendan Rodgers will reportedly spend £135m in total to ready his squad for an assault on the Premier League and the Champions League.

If they secure the players they’ve been linked with, as well as the signings already completed (Emre Can, Rickie Lambert & Adam Lallana) they could (hypothetically of course) put out this totally new look XI during the 2014/15 campaign…

We’re not that impressed…

GK) Michel Vorm

With Swansea having signed Lukasz Fabianski on a free, Dutchman Vorm is apparently available, and the Reds could bring him to Anfield to provide ample backup to Simon Mignolet.

DR) Serge Aurier

With Arsenal turning their attentions to Mathieu Debuchy instead, Liverpool have a free run at the young Ivorian, who claims that his preference is English football.

DC) Dejan Lovren

Lovren stats that ‘his head is already in Liverpool’, but his club Southampton are demanding £25m for his services – although an agreement is expected to be reached before the end of summer.

DC) Raphael Varane

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged the club to sign Real Madrid’s talented 21-year-old Frenchman. A deal though seems highly unlikely, with Varane highly thought of in Spain, especially now Pepe is ageing.

DL) Ben Davies

Alberto Moreno and Ryan Bertrand have also been linked to fix the problem position, but most recently, Liverpool have been admiring Swansea’s 21-year-old Welsh left-back Ben Davies.

MC) Emre Can

The German battler has arrived from Bayer Leverkusen to provide competition for Steven Gerrard in the anchoring midfield role.

MC) Adam Lallana

Lallana can play either out wide, or centrally – and if Liverpool sign the wingers they’re expected to, he could slot into the middle of the side. The Englishman arrived earlier in the summer for a cool £25m from Southampton.

AMR) Lazar Markovic

The Serbian attacking midfielder is comfortable anywhere in the final third, and is expected to conclude a £20m move from Benfica imminently.

AML) Antione Griezmann

Arguably the most exciting potential signing in this XI, Griezmann scored 16 goals from the left wing in La Liga last term, and has spoken of his desire to leave Real Sociedad this summer, with Liverpool monitoring the situation closely.

FC) Rickie Lambert

Labert was originally signed as backup for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, but with the former leaving, the £4m Southampton signing may have a more prominent role to play than expected.

FC) Wilfried Bony

The Reds have been heavily linked with a £19m move for the Ivorian powerhouse, who bagged 25 goals in all competitions for Swansea during his debut season in England last term. He’s strong, can hold the gal up, and can finish off with foot – but possesses little of the magic the departing Suarez does.
