Brendan Rodgers targeting six new signings
Liverpool are hoping to add six new faces in the remainder of this summer’s transfer window, as they look to reinvest the money made by the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
The Daily Mirror are linking the Reds with moves for Southampton duo Jay Rodriguez and Dejan Lovren, Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno, and Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm. The Mirror believe that their virtually completed move for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic will take their total spending spree to £135m.
Rodgers has already been given the green light to bring Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can to Anfield and he is confident that the club’s American owners will bankroll another splash.
Wisdom will join West Brom on loan
One player on his way out of Anfield this summer could be full-back Andre Wisdom, who is set to join West Brom on a season long loan.
The Daily Mirror believe that the youngster, who spent last season with Championship side Derby County, could be on his way out of Anfield for another year as he looks to gain first-team experience.
Wisdom has made 14 Premier League appearances for Liverpool since breaking into the first-team picture in 2012, but has fallen down the pecking order since then. At just 21-years-old he is still an excellent prospect.
Reds closing in on Wilfried Bony
The Reds are closing in on a deal for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, according to reports in the Daily Express.
Rodgers believes Bony, who struck 25 goals for Swansea last season, can help fill the formidable gap left by Suarez’s departure to Barcelona.
Swansea, who have brought in Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, know they face a fight to hold on to Bony, who they signed for £12m from Vitesse Arnhem last summer. His contract has a £20m release clause, which Rodgers is prepared to pay his former club.
Suso determined to stay
The Daily Mirror have also reported that Spanish youngster Suso is determined to fight for his spot at Anfield next season.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Almeria and had been linked with a similar switch away again for the new campaign.
But he told LFCTV that he saw his future on Merseyside and wants to make himself a regular fixture in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team.
Liverpool remain interested in Atletico Madrid star
Reports in the Turkish media Liverpool will return to Atletico Madrid with a bid for Arda Turan.
The Reds have been linked with the Turkish international midfielder in the past, but a move as so far failed to materialise.
Reports in Spain suggest that Atleti are keen to acquire Santi Cazorla from Arsenal this summer but will need to raise further funds if they are to bring in new players this summer.
