(Video) Top 10 Goals Of The 2014 World Cup Including Strikes From Chelsea & Manchester United Stars

The best efforts from the tournament.

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil comes to an end on Sunday when Germany take on Argentina in the final of what many are billing as the most exciting tournament ever.

As one might expect there have been a number of brilliant goals during the competition and CaughtOffside have picked out our top 10, see if you agree.

10. Gervinho, IVORY COAST v Colombia

It was a good tournament for the AS Roma forward even if his Ivorian team fell short once more and this was a fine individual effort from the 27-year-old against the Colombians.

9. Arjen Robben, NETHERLANDS v Spain

On day two of the tournament the Dutch produced one of the first shocks by thrashing reigning champions Spain 5-1 in a game where Robben recorded the fastest time ever for a footballer with this effort.

8. Xherdan Shaqiri, SWITZERLAND v Honduras

In a must win match for the Swiss their star player and Bayern Munich winger Shaqiri got them off to a great start in the sixth minute with this rocket, with the 22-year-old eventually going onto score a hat-trick in the game.

7. Andre Schurrle, GERMANY v Brazil

In perhaps the biggest shock of the tournament the Germans ran out 7-1 winners against the hosts in the semi-finals, with Schurrle coming off the bench to score twice including this peach.

6. Jermaine Jones, USA v Portugal

A wonder strike from the midfielder that equalised for the Americans and helped send them through to the last-16 at the expense of the Portuguese.

5. David Luiz, BRAZIL v Colombia

Before they were sent crashing out of the competition in the semis – with Luiz taking much of the blame – the newly signed Paris Saint-Germain defender managed this wonderful free-kick in the quarter-finals.

4. Lionel Messi, ARGENTINA v Iran

In what was becoming a frustrating game for the Argentinians, it needed a piece of magic from their talisman in added time to secure a victory and their eventual path to the final.

3. Tim Cahill, AUSTRALIA v Netherlands

The Australians may have ended up going out of a difficult Group B with no points, but that wasn’t before they had given the Dutch a scare in the second game in a match remembered for this volley.

2. Robin van Persie, NETHERLANDS v Spain

Another goal from the 5-1 hammering of the Spanish now and an amazing header from Manchester United’s van Persie that drew his nation level in a brilliant game.

1. James Rodriguez, COLOMBIA v Uruguay

Yet the CaughtOffside No.1 goal has to be this outstanding volley from Rodriguez, with the AS Monaco ace’s six strikes enough to earn him the Golden Boot as things stand.
