Liverpool Rumour Roundup: £18m Left-Back Move On Again, Ex-Chelsea Striker Linked, Rodgers Eyes La Liga Winger

Today’s biggest Liverpool-related transfer stories.

Move for £18m Sevilla left-back could be back on

Liverpool have resumed talks over the possible signing of Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, with Ian Ayre jetting off to Spain to try and thrash out a deal, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old is widely regarded as being one of the best young defenders in Europe, and had been strongly linked as a top target for the Reds earlier in the summer before reports that the two clubs could not agree a fee for the player.

Still, it now looks as though the talented Spaniard could be heading to Anfield in an £18m deal, which should prove a big signing for the club in what has been a problem position for them in recent times.

Liverpool among clubs chasing ex-Chelsea striker

Liverpool and their Merseyside rivals Everton are among the clubs looking into the signing of Lille striker Salomon Kalou this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Chelsea man is thought to be keen on sealing a return to the Premier League this summer after two seasons in France, where he has been in impressive goalscoring form.

The likes of AS Roma and Galatasaray are also interested in the Ivory Coast international, but Liverpool could be in with a chance of signing him as he hopes to play in England again, though Arsenal are said to be his first choice.

Rodgers makes enquiry over Atletico Madrid winger

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has asked Atletico Madrid about the availability of Turkish winger Arda Turan, according to the Metro.

The Spanish champions have had to deal with a number of their star players being linked with moves away this summer, with Europe’s elite clubs looking to capitalise on Atletico’s need to sell before they can buy.

Turan has been linked with Liverpool and other Premier League sides in the past, and could be a useful addition to Rodgers’ squad as the Northern Irishman eyes new attacking players following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Reds could make third Southampton raid

Liverpool have been linked with yet another raid on Southampton this summer as they target a move for striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the Daily Mail.

The Reds have already signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from the Saints, and Rodriguez could now be one of the club’s next targets as they look for new players to come in upfront to help replace the departing Luis Suarez.

Rodriguez has been in fine form for Southampton in recent times, but cruelly missed out on the World Cup for England due to sustaining an injury late on last season.

Liverpool told to pay up for Swansea City striker

Swansea City have upped their asking price for Liverpool target Wilfried Bony, according to the Daily Mirror, putting his move to Anfield in serious doubt.

The Ivory Coast striker enjoyed a fine first season in the Premier League last term, and could make a useful signing for Liverpool as they look to rebuild for next year, but he may now prove too expensive.

Despite reports that Bony has a release clause of £19m, Swansea may be set to demand even more, in the same way that Liverpool ignored a clause in Luis Suarez’s contract last summer amid interest from Arsenal.

Spanish flop set to go out on loan

Liverpool’s highly disappointing striker signing of last summer, Iago Aspas, could be set for a season-long loan move back to La Liga with Sevilla, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The former Celta Vigo man has been unable to take his form from Spanish football to the Premier League, scoring just once in all competitions in 2013/14 and failing to impress his manager.

Aspas seems unlikely to be part of Liverpool’s plans even with the departure of Suarez, and a temporary move to Sevilla could pave the way for a permanent one in the future.
