Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly been given a huge transfer boost in their attempts to sign Juventus duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.

The Daily Star are reporting that, following the resignation of Juve manager Antonio Conte late last night, both deals now look likely to happen.

Conte, 44, decided to terminate his contract with the Serie A champions after three years in charge of the Italian giants – in which he won three consecutive league titles as well as two domestic cups.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Conte, who spent 13 years at Juventus as a player, announced his decision to leave the club and thanked fans and everyone associated with club for the support he received during his time in Turin.

The key line in his farewell statement read: “It may be more difficult to keep winning with Juventus”, fueling speculation that his departure was in relation to the proposed transfers of his two key midfield players – although he has also been linked with the vacant Italian manager’s position.

Vidal, 27, has been open with his desire for a ‘new challenge’ next season following his success with Juventus, and has been heavily linked with Manchester United for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have declared their interest in £60m rated Pogba, 21, and are keen to pair him with Cesc Fabregas as part of a new look midfield duo. Pogba was spotted in London last week, but it was denied that this was with the view to completing any sort of transfer.

Both players were in impressive form at this summer’s World Cup as Vidal helped Chile reach the Last 16, where they were eliminated by hosts Brazil, while Pogba’s France were beaten in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Germany.
