Chelsea in 2014/15: Entire XI of Possible New Signings Including Real Madrid Trio and Stylish French Winger

An eleven made up of strongly linked targets who are apparently high up on Jose Mourinho’s Stamford Bridge wish-list.

Which would you sign? Eleven players who are said to interest Mourinho, who has already brought in some high-profile additions and with a fair bit of money in the bank, so which should he look to bring in this summer?

Goalkeeper – Victor Valdes (Free Agent)

Free agent keeper is still yet to commit to a new club and there are fewer more experienced and more able custodians in the game. Perhaps Chelsea don’t need another keeper, though it’s likely that a return of Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid will lead to Petr Cech leaving the west London side that would in turn lead to the need to bring in a goalie to challenge the number one starter.

Left-Back – Filipe Luis (Bought)

Ashley Cole left for AS Roma and after much back and forth Jose Mourinho has brought in the 28 year old Brazilian, who last term played a key role in Atletico Madrid’s La Liga triumph. The Brazilian will hope that this high-profile move aids his push for a more prominent role at national team level.

Centre-Back – Eliaqium Mangala (FC Porto)

Talented young Frenchman may be the latest player FC Porto cash-in on and Jose Mourinho is said to be keen, and given that David Luiz has left and John Terry is in the latter stages of his career, such a move may be a sensible one. Man City are also said to be keen.

Centre-Back – Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)

Jose Mourinho signed the Frenchman when he was in charge at Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti seems less keen on the centre-back than his predecessor. The 21 year old impressed at the World Cup finals and may well no longer be willing to be anything other than a first team regular at the Bernabeu.

Right-Back Ricardo – Ricardo van Rhijn (Ajax)

Dutch right-back has been linked with a move to west London a few times though this perhaps a spot where reinforcements are not necessary. Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to move into the role and that would leave Branislav Ivanovic ideally placed to keep the Spaniard on his toes.

Defensive Midfielder – Alex Song (Barcelona)

Strong tackler is deemed surplus to requirements under new Nou Camp boss Luis Enrique and could be a relatively inexpensive purchase and by all accounts the Cameroon international is keen on a move back to London. Former Arsenal man has plenty of Premier League experience and could be a better option than John Obi Mikel.

Holding Midfielder – Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Another of Jose Mourinho’s former charges and a player who is very much set for a summer move, with Arsenal said to be just about leading the chase. The 27 year old missed most of last term and is a player Carlo Ancelotti is ready to sell and having won a World Cup the German isn’t going to want to be left on the Real Madrid bench.

Attacking Midfielder – Cesc Fabregas (Bought)

Chelsea have brought in the former Gunners skipper from Barcelona and is a player with a point to prove after feeling the wrath of the Catalan faithful, who made Fabregas something of a scapegoat for last season’s failings even if he was the club’s leading assist maker.

Left-Wing – Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

Argentine winger is another who could leave the Bernabeu, especially as Real Madrid are looking to generate funds for a big money bid for Colombian James Rodriguez. The wiry attacker could well be on the move this summer, PSG and Man United are also interested.

Striker – Diego Costa (Bought)

Jose Mourinho’s first season back at Chelsea was undermined by this side’s lack of a cutting edge up front and the 25 year old Brazilian born Spaniard could well be the man to offer a prolific spearhead to the Blues attack. Costa notched up 36 goals in all competitions last term, the last of which came at Stamford Bridge as his side defeated the Premier League side in the Champions League semi-finals.

Right-Wing – Antoine Griezmann (Real Sociedad)

23 year old Frenchman has outgrown his Basque side and will be looking to secure a summer move and is said to favour a Premier League switch. The winger netted 20 goals in all competitions last season and is a player with a great deal of potential.
