Manchester United Transfers: 10 Players To Be Sold, Concerns Over Arturo Vidal And Shock James Rodriguez Bid

The biggest transfer stories of the day for the Red Devils.

Manchester United to make shock £63m move for James Rodriguez

Having impressed at the 2014 World Cup and finishing the tournament as the Golden Boot winner, the AS Monaco man is hot property.

Although the 22-year-old has admitted that Real Madrid would be his ideal destination, the Red Devils are hoping to compete for Rodriguez’s signature, according to the Daily Express.

Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the situation, but it’s United that have the funds after signing a new £750m kit deal with Adidas.

Assurance needed on Arturo Vidal’s knee injury before £34m deal

Although the Juventus midfielder is a key target for the 13-time Premier League winners, a problem has occurred that could stall things.

Vidal underwent a knee operation in May in a hasty attempt to ensure the 27-year-old was ready for the World Cup and reports in the Mirror says the procedure wasn’t 100% effective.

The Chile international remains a key transfer target for the Red Devils however, with new manager Louis van Gaal keen to overhaul his squad this summer.

Van Gaal to oversee a 10-player cull at Old Trafford

The ruthless streak of the newly appointed boss is set to rear its head soon with the sale of no fewer than 10 current first team players, reports the Mirror.

Van Gaal took up his position at the club officially on Wednesday and has already identified the figures that could be set for the chop.

Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini, Bebe, Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Nani and Nick Powell are all on the list.

Arsenal want Chris Smalling as part of the Thomas Vermaelen deal

The Gunners are finally opening up to the possibility of allowing club captain Vermaelen to leave for United, but only if Smalling is included in the deal.

The Metro reports that Arsene Wenger is unwilling to part with the 28-year-old unless he can find an alternative in defence for his skipper.

Smalling has failed to truly impress at the Theatre of Dreams, but having already lost Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic this summer it remains to be seen whether another centre-back will be allowed to leave.

Away shirt goes on sale before official release

Both the Red Devils and JD Sports were left red-faced after the new away shirt of the club went on sale in a branch of the sportswear outlet before its official release.

Having agreed a new multimillion pound deal with American car manufacturers Chevrolet, new kits for the club have been designed for the 2014/15 season.

Yet there will be little surprise when the white jersey of United is unveiled after this gaffe – check out the shirt here.
