Arsenal Potential XI For 2014/15 With Alexis Sanchez And Desired New Signing Sami Khedira

How the Gunners could be lining up next season.

It has been a good transfer window for Arsenal so far, securing Alexis Sanchez from FC Barcelona in a £35m deal and then on Thursday signing Mathieu Debuchy for £10m from Newcastle United.

It’s understood that manager Arsene Wenger is also looking to bring in a holding midfielder before the new season starts and Sky Sports reports that the Gunners are looking to sign Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.

Here is how Wenger’s XI could look in 2014/15 with the new signings.

GK – Wojciech Szczesny

Proved last term that the manager putting his faith in the 24-year-old was a good plan and Szczesny is likely to be the preferred No.1 despite who is brought in as competition.

RB – Mathieu Debuchy

The loss of Bacary Sagna to Manchester City was a big blow for the North Londoners, but having impressed in the Premier League with Newcastle over the past 18 months Debuchy could well be the ideal replacement.

CB – Per Mertesacker

May have lost his place in the Germany team to Jerome Boateng towards the end of the 2014 World Cup, but for Wenger’s men the 29-year-old has adapted well and looks like one of the best centre-backs in the division.

CB – Laurent Koscielny

A much more technically gifted player than his defensive partner and a centre-back who is comfortable on the ball and looks to play it out rather than lump it up the pitch.

LB – Kieran Gibbs

Like Szczesny came through the youth system at the Emirates Stadium and has flourished under Wenger and now looks like a top-class left-back.

CM – Aaron Ramsey

Came in for a lot of criticism ahead of the 2013/14 campaign, but proved any doubters wrong with his brilliant performances in all competitions and could well become a world-class midfielder.

CM – Sami Khedira

Would be tasked as the more defensive player at the base of midfield, but Khedira does like to break forward and therefore Ramsey would probably have to become more disciplined alongside the German.

AM – Mesut Ozil

At £42.4m is still the club’s record signing by some way and had his critics last year, meaning Ozil will be wanting to improve and show that he is worth the money.

RW – Theo Walcott

Injured for most of 2014 with a cruciate ligament problem and may not be fit for the start of the season, but is a favourite of Wenger’s and brings a unique style to the team.

ST – Olivier Giroud

May be widely derided, but with 16 league goals last term proved that he is a useful addition in attack and works well with Walcott.

LW – Alexis Sanchez

The new man and one of the most exciting additions ever seen at the Emirates, Sanchez can play anywhere in the front line and is likely to cause opposition defences all sorts of problems.
