Reds ‘agree sale’ of Fabio Borini

Liverpool have agreed in principle, a deal to send Italian striker Fabio Borini back to Sunderland.

Sky Sports are reporting that the 23-year-old, who enjoyed a successful year on loan at the Stadium of Light last season, is now close to sealing a permanent, £14m move.

Borini, who was Brendan Rodgers’ first signing after joining as Liverpool manager, scored just two goals in 20 appearances during an injury-plagued first year at Anfield, and is reportedly keen on continuing his development under Black Cats manager Gus Poyet.

Liverpool face battle to sign French striker

Liverpool are thought to be closing in on QPR’s wantaway striker Loic Remy but, according to the Daily Mirror, are first insisting that the Frenchman lowers his wage demands.

Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, has no intention of staying with the newly promoted club this campaign, as he looks to secure himself Champions League football.

The Reds have spoken to QPR, and the France World Cup striker has an £8m escape clause in his contract at Loftus Road for Champions League clubs. However, Liverpool have been put off by Remy’s personal terms, and it is understood he is demanding between £80-90,000-a-week.

Tottenham closing in on Ben Davies

Tottenham look to have beaten Liverpool to the £10m signing of Swansea City left-back Ben Davies.

The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is poised to make Davies his first signing as Spurs manager, pipping Brendan Rodgers to the 21-year-old defender.

The Telegraph claims that the decisive factor, was the fact that the North London club promised the player first-team football, encouraging Davies to choose a move to White Hart Lane, rather than Anfield.

Alberto Moreno now linked with Atletico Madrid

Another full-back who looks set to move elsewhere this summer, is long-time transfer target Alberto Moreno.

The Reds are believed to have given up on trying to sign the Spain international following weeks of negotiations with Sevilla, and Talk Sport have reported that the Champions League finalists are now set to take advantage.

Madrid are desperate for a new left-back, following the sale of Filipe Luis to Chelsea.

Liverpool contenders for Daley Blind

Reports in Spain suggest that Liverpool may now enter the race for the Netherlands World Cup left-back Daley Blind.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona have all been linked with the 24-year-old Ajax star, who scored in his country’s 3-0 play-off victory over Brazil earlier this month.

The Dutch giants want €22m for a player who is tactically very versatile and can play in a wide range of positions, including defensive midfield.
