Fabio Borini – Liverpool to Sunderland for £14m

The transfer is yet to be finalised, but the Black Cats have agreed to pay the fee for the Italian, who spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light. He scored seven Premier League goals, mostly from the penalty spot, and was not really in Liverpool’s plans for next season, so manager Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to receive such a fee for him – especially as he’s about to sign Loic Remy for £6m less.

David Luiz – Chelsea to PSG for £40m (Other reports claims £50m)

Chelsea must have been laughing all the way to the bank when PSG agreed to pay this monstrous fee for their Brazilian defender who hates defending! David Luiz is extremely talented, but he proved at the World Cup that he’s a complete liability at times, and nowhere near defensively strong enough to be worth this amount of money.

Luke Shaw – Southampton to Manchester United for £27m

Granted, Shaw is clearly one of the most talented left-backs in the world for his age, but £27m is the kind of fee you’d expect to pay once a player has already developed into a world-class performer – and not when he’s still only 18-years-old. Southampton should be able to reinvest is wisely.

Ander Herrera – Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United for £28m

Another huge fee agreed for a player who has yet to win an international cap. Herrera has also not competed regularly in the Champions League, and actually cost United more than Chelsea paid for Cesc Fabregas – a World Cup and La Liga winner.

Ross McCormack – Leeds United to Fulham for £11m

The Scottish striker has never played in the Premier League, but somehow – still cost eight figures this summer. He’s 27-years-old, and despite having a strong record in the Championship, an £11m fee seems completely outrageous, and is a true sign of how inflated the transfer market is this summer.
