Juventus will only consider a “high bid” for star player Arturo Vidal

Manchester United’s hopes of landing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal have been struck a blow, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the Italian giants will only accept a monster bid for one of their prize assets.

The 27 year-old Chilean has been the subject of much interest from United this summer, but could yet stay put in Turin after the Italian giants latest series of demands.

Pavel Nedved has insisted Juventus do not need to sell Arturo Vidal to United, or Paul Pogba to Chelsea this summer – and would only consider a “high bid” for either of their star players.

Cavani faces showdown talks with PSG

Manchester United’s hopes of signing striker Edinson Cavani have been handed a huge boost with the news that the Uruguayan is set to hold talks over his PSG future later this week, after growing frustrated with his role at the club.

The Daily Mirror have revealed reports in Italy which claim that Cavani has become frustrated with playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the French capital and is said to be harbouring over a switch to England.

According to Sport Italia, the player is set to reaffirm that stance on Tuesday, although it remains to be seen whether or not this will tempt United into tabling a bid, with PSG wanting close to the €64m they paid for Cavani a year ago.

Ed Woodward promises unlimited transfer spending

Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward insists that there will be no repeat of last summer’s mistakes in the transfer market, and has revealed that new manager Louis van Gaal does have funds at his disposal.

Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have arrived already this summer for a combined £60m and Woodward expects more to follow.

He told MUTV: “There is no fixed budget. Financially we are extremely strong, funds are available. Louis is assessing what’s been going on, we’ve been in dialogue for some time about targets, so there’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Watch this space.”

Patrice Evra to complete Juventus move today

The Daily Mirror have revealed that reports in Italy are suggesting Patrice Evra will complete his move to Juventus today.

The experienced left-back only signed a new contract in May but is said to be surplus to requirements following Luke Shaw’s arrival.

Some reports had suggested the deal had fell through due to Antonio Conte’s departure from Turin but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

United set to make huge offer for Daley Blind

Meanwhile, the Italian media also believe that United are on the verge of striking a deal for an instant replacement, Dutch World Cup left-back Daley Blind.

The 24-year-old, who impressed under the stewardship of Louis van Gaal during the Netherlands successful tournament campaign, which saw them finish in third place in Brazil, can also play as a defensive midfielder, and could cost in the region of £17m.

The Ajax star would provide cover in a number of positions, and would also create competition for new signing Luke Shaw.
