Tottenham Close In On Quality Quartet, Including Swansea City Pair & ‘New Luka Modric’

Spurs working on four new signings.

Tottenham Hotspur could be edging closer to completing four new signings as they get their summer transfer window business underway, according to various sources.

The north London club spent over £100m in last year’s transfer window in an attempt to replace the departing Gareth Bale, who joined Real Madrid for a world-record fee of £85m, but they have yet to bring anyone in so far this pre-season.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a number of interesting moves, and the Argentine coach could now be about to complete a raid on his old club Southampton as one of four new players set to arrive at White Hart Lane.

With a new addition in goal, left-back and two players to arrive in midfield, these deals should represent important work for Tottenham as they look to address the important areas of their squad in an attempt to launch an improved assault on the Premier League top four places this season.

4) Michel Vorm (Swansea City)

Despite the presence of both Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel as options in goal for Tottenham, Pochettino has seemingly been keen to recruit a new signing in that position, and has targeted a move for Swansea City shot-stopper Michel Vorm. The Dutchman has been one of the outstanding performers for the Swans since their promotion to the Premier League, and has previously been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona, though they have since looked elsewhere to sign new goalkeepers. White Hart Lane could now be the player’s next destination in a double raid by Spurs on the Welsh club, with a £5m move expected to go through soon.

3) Ben Davies (Swansea City)

Tottenham have long been keen to sign a new top-quality left-back, and they now appear to be closing in on a £10m deal for talented Swansea youngster Ben Davies to be their solution in that position. The 21-year-old was excellent for the Liberty Stadium outfit last season after establishing himself as first choice for the club, and has also been linked with Liverpool in recent times as a summer move looked increasingly likely. The player has chosen a move to Spurs, however, and it may be a good transfer for him as he looks to progress in his career.

2) Nikola Vlasic (Hajduk Split)

Dubbed the ‘new Luka Modric’, Tottenham could be getting their hands on a superb young talent here as they reportedly target a move for £3m Croatian wonderkid Nikola Vlasic. The 16-year-old is already a first-team regular for his club side Hajduk Split, and Spurs are keen to secure this exciting star of the future, who could make an excellent long-term replacement for their former playmaker Modric, who they have struggled to replace since his £33m move to Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago.

1) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

Despite also being targeted by Tottenham’s local rivals Arsenal, Morgan Schneiderlin has been keen to link up again with his old manager Pochettino at White Hart Lane. The French international has been a superb performer for Southampton in his career so far, helping the south coast club climb up the leagues along the way to eventually reaching the top flight, and he could now look to move on for a new challenge with a transfer to Spurs. The 24-year-old would no doubt be an excellent addition for the north London side, with his top-class work-rate and ball-playing ability from deep.
