Keep Or Sell?! Liverpool’s Squad Ranked & Rated, With Mega Money Replacements Suggested!

Here’s who we like, and who we reckon doesn’t cut the Anfield mustard!

Brendan Rodgers is making countless signings this summer, which means he’ll surely offload a few members of his squad before the 2014/15 season commences.

Here’s what the Northern Irish boss could, and perhaps should do ahead before the end of the summer.

(Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Andre Wisdom have all been offloaded on loan already.)

GOALKEEPERS:

Simon Mignolet: KEEP!

A talented shot-stopper, Mignolet improved as the season went on last time out, despite some shaky form around Christmas time.

Pepe Reina: SELL!

The Spaniard’s time at Anfield is surely up, and the Reds should sell him while they can still collect a transfer fee.

Brad Jones: SELL!

Not good enough. A liability when on the pitch.

Possible replacements? Guillermo Ochoa – The Mexican is available on a free contract after running his deal down at Ajaccio.

DEFENDERS:

Glen Johnson: KEEP!

Still has at least one more year at the top.

Jon Flanagan: KEEP!

Can play either left or right-back, and won England caps this summer.

Mamadou Sakho: KEEP!

Powerful, a good passer, and extremely talented.

Martin Skrtel: KEEP!

A solid squad option, but perhaps not a starter next season.

DEFENDERS CONTINUED:

Tiago Ilori: KEEP!

Another strong backup option, after performing well on loan at Granada last term.

Jose Enrique: KEEP!

When fit, Enrique’s actually a very good player.

Martin Kelly: SELL!

He’s already 24-years-old, and it’s sad to say, but injuries have ruined his career to date. Time to move on.

Daniel Agger: SELL!

He won’t be content with a spot on the bench, and has grown increasingly error prone with age. With Lovren arriving, he’s surplus to requirements.

Kolo Toure: SELL!

Nowhere near good enough any more.

Possible replacements? Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno – Croatian centre-back Lovren is on the verge of a £20m move, and young Spaniard Moreno would be the perfect man to take the left-back spot.

MIDFIELDERS:

Lucas Leiva: KEEP!

Underrated, and provides a strong backup anchorman option.

Emre Can: KEEP! (New signing!)

Strong, powerful and a good passer. Can will get chances following his £10m move from Germany.

Steven Gerrard: KEEP!

The captain could be used more sparingly this term as he enters the twilight years of his career.

Joe Allen: KEEP!

A Brendan Rodgers’ favourite – Allen ticks over possession nicely in midfield.

Jordan Henderson: KEEP!

Arguably Liverpool’s best player last season bar the strike pair.

SELL? Nobody!

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS:

Adam Lallana: KEEP! (New signing!)

The Englishman will hope to live up to his £25m summer price tag.

Coutinho: KEEP!

Creatively exceptional, Coutinho will be fresh after he wasn’t selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Raheem Sterling: KEEP!

Is there a better teenager in world football right now?

Lazar Markovic: KEEP! (New signing!)

The £20m signing is rated as one of the most talented wingers in Europe.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS CONTINUED:

Jordon Ibe: LOAN!

Let the wonderkid continue his development at a lower Premier League club.

Joao Teixeira: SELL!

Already 21-years-old, the Portuguese playmaker won’t make the grade at Anfield.

Suso: SELL!

The young Spaniard is talented, but he’ll struggle for game time this term.

Possible replacements? Isco – The Real Madrid man is surplus to requirements after Los Blancos splashed out on James Rodriguez.

FORWARDS:

Daniel Sturridge: KEEP!

The new main man at Liverpool now Suarez has left.

Rickie Lambert: KEEP! (New signing!)

Lambert reached double figures for both goals and assists last season.

Fabio Borini: SELL!

If the Reds can get £14m for Borini (as Sunderland have offered), they’ll be laughing all the way to the bank!

Possible replacements? Loic Remy, Divock Origi – Both the pacy forwards are likely to sign soon, although Origi could be sent out on loan immediately.
