Manchester United Transfers: £27.7m Bid For Juan Cuadrado, £33m Double Deal For Blind And Hummels Also Close

The biggest stories of the day involving the Red Devils.

Manchester United preparing £17m bid for Daley Blind

New manager Louis van Gaal is ready to make his third significant signing of the summer in the shape of Ajax and Netherlands star Blind.

According to reports in the Daily Express having worked with the 24-year-old with the national team van Gaal sees the versatile player as the ideal acquisition.

Blind won the Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2014 playing in defensive midfield, but is equally adept at left-back and would act as good cover for Luke Shaw after the departure of Patrice Evra to Juventus.

Mats Hummels is also a £16m target

Van Gaal also has his eye on this 2014 World Cup winning defender, with the United hieracrhy understood to have thrashed out a deal with Hummels’ current club Borussia Dortmund, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old has been impressing on the biggest stages for some years now and is considered to be one of the finest centre-backs in world football.

Therefore the price that chief executive Ed Woodward has reportedly agreed for the German – £16m – seems like a remarkably good piece of business.

Paris Saint-Germain think of new way to scupper United’s move for Angel di Maria

Reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG have thought of a way to adhere to UEFA’s FFP ruling and still bring in Real Madrid midfielder di Maria this summer.

The Daily Express says that after spending £50m on Chelsea’s David Luiz already in this window, sanctioning another £40m for the Argentine could see them slapped with another fine – so will take the 26-year-old on-loan instead.

Laurent Blanc’s side would then sign di Maria permanently in 12 months time, leaving the Red Devils without a hope of landing the South American themselves.

Red Devils lead three-way chase to land impressive West Ham United teenager

The 13-time Premier League champions are joined by Arsenal and Chelsea in the pursuit of the Hammers’ young defender Reece Oxford.

According to the Daily Star it is United who are leading the chase for the 15-year-old as well, who greatly impressed in West Ham’s youth team last season.

All three clubs have been scouting the youngster for some time.

A £27.7m offer has been submitted for Juan Cuadrado

Yet perhaps the biggest transfer story of the day concerning the club has been the offer made for Fiorentina winger Cuadrado.

Spanish publication Sport reports that United are ready to compete with FC Barcelona for the Colombia international with the di Maria deal now looking unlikely.

Cuadrado was considered to be one of the best players in Serie A in 2013/14 and then also greatly impressed at the World Cup in Brazil.
