Southampton defender set for Reds medical

Southampton defender Dejan Lovren is closing in on a move to Liverpool and is set to undergo a medical ahead of a £20m switch to Anfield, according to BBC Sport.

The Croatian international only spent one season at the St Mary’s Stadium, with his impressive form in the Premier League attracting plenty of interest this summer.

Liverpool had been keen to strengthen defensively, and will make Lovren their third raid on Southampton this summer, having already signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from the Saints.

Liverpool make £14.2m bid for Bayern winger

Liverpool have reportedly submitted a £14.2m bid for Bayern Munich and Switzerland winger Xherdan Shaqiri, according to the Daily Star.

The Reds have already brought in a number of signings in the attacking midfield department this summer, but remain keen on snapping up Shaqiri due to his uncertain situation at the Allianz Arena.

The 22-year-old has not managed to establish himself as a regular in the Bayern first-team, but he remains a highly regarded talent in European football from his FC Basel days.

Liverpool may miss out on young striker

Liverpool look to be facing increased competition for the signing of exciting Lille youngster Divock Origi, with the Daily Mail reporting that Atletico Madrid are also keen on him.

The 19-year-old striker, currently of Ligue 1 side Lille, impressed at this summer’s World Cup for Belgium, and had looked like securing a move to Anfield earlier in this transfer window.

Still, his future remains up in the air, and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone sees him as a potential replacement for the recently-departed David Villa.

Manchester United eye £15m Liverpool target

Manchester United could be set to step up their interest in Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan, a previous target for Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.

The Turkish international, valued at around £15m, has been a key player for Atletico in their recent success, and is one of many of their players to be linked with a move away this summer.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will still be in for him, though it has been suggested that they chose the signing of Lazar Markovic over Turan earlier this summer.

QPR surprise favourites to sign Liverpool target

Another rumoured Liverpool target could be about to slip through the net, with Marseille star Mathieu Valbuena linked with a surprise move to Queens Park Rangers, the Daily Mirror reports.

The French playmaker, who has also been linked with Arsenal, is seemingly available on the cheap this summer, with new Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa not a fan of the midfielder.

Valbuena impressed for France at this summer’s World Cup, and looks a player who would fit in well at Anfield, though it seems the Merseysiders have cooled their interest in him.
