Despite already having captured Ander Herrera from La Liga club Athletic Bilbao for a fee in excess of £30 million, it seems as though Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is still in the market for at least one more midfield player this summer.
With a number of big names already having been linked with a move to Old Trafford, we’ve combed through the options to pick out ten of the possibilities for the Dutchman as he looks to strengthen his options.
Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
Chile and Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with United keen to add a real string to their transfer bow with the capture of the world class former Bayer Leverkusen man.
Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)
Creative central midfielder Kevin Strootman missed much of the end of the Serie A season and the 2014 FIFA World Cup through injury, but the Dutchman has enough quality that he may yet convince United to splash out on the AS Roma man.
Angel di Maria (Real Madrid)

Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan is in demand, with the tricky player having been linked with a host of major European clubs – including United, for whom the Argentinian star would be quite a capture.
Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)
Potentially fueled by the former Real Madrid star’s performance for Louis van Gaal’s Dutch team at the World Cup, United have been linked with a possible move for former Champions League winner Wesley Sneijder, who is currently playing in Turkey with Galatasaray.
Paul Pogba (Juventus)
Arturo Vidal is not the only Juventus midfielder to be linked with a move to United, with the Red Devils also somewhat optimistically being linked with a huge move for Paul Pogba – the French international who they originally allowed to leave on a free transfer.
Enzo Perez (Benfica)
One more cost effective option for van Gaal in midfield could prove to be Argentina international Enzo Perez, who has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford from Portuguese champions Benfica.
Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord)
United have been linked with a swathe of van Gaal’s Netherlands World Cup squad – with young Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie being another player mentioned as a potential solution for the Red Devils, with the youngster rated as one of Europe’s most promising playmakers.
