West Ham United are targeting former Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’s, as they attempt to feel the void left by the injury to Andy Carroll.

The Sun on Sunday have reported that the Hammers have made contact with the former Chelsea striker’s agent. However, West Ham know they must move quickly for the Cameroon international after his people held talks with Queens Park Rangers and Juventus.

United manager Sam Allardyce has already recruited heavily this summer, with Ecuador’s World Cup forward Enner Valencia and former Birmingham striker Mauro Zarate among five recruits, but the injury to Carroll has encouraged him to return for another attacking player.

Cheikhou Kouyate, Aaron Cresswell and Diego Poyet have also joined the club this summer, as Allardyce looks to improve on the team that struggled to 13th place in last season’s Premier League.

The Daily Mail have meanwhile claimed that the owners of the east London club had come to an agreement to give Big Sam ten games into the new season to show signs of improvement, following rumours that he would be sacked after the previous, disappointing campaign.

David Sullivan’s criticism of Allardyce is mainly based around the £15million signing of Andy Carroll last summer, with matters having come to a head and caused a massive issue between the dynamic of co-owner David Gold, and assistant Karren Brady.
