Jamie Carragher believes that Daniel Sturridge is now the main man.

Liverpool are now well into their time preparing for life after Luis Suarez, with more pressure having been heaped on striker Daniel Sturridge to step it up even more to help fill the void left by the Uruguayan – a situation exacerbated by Loic Remy’s failed medical at Anfield.
One former Anfield legend believes that Sturridge can thrive now that Suarez has moved on to Barcelona, however, with Jamie Carragher sensationally claiming that the England man was “bullied” at times by his teammate last season.
Despite striking up a fruitful partnership that plundered a huge number of Liverpool’s goals, there often seemed to be a tension between Sturridge and Suarez when they were on the pitch together, something that was picked up on by Carragher:
“He’s not Suarez, we know that. I remember times last season when I was in the Main Stand. In the Everton game he and Suarez were going hammer and tongs at each other, they were still arguing at the halfway line and the manager brought Sturridge off.
“I’d have done the other one.”
“I felt at times that Suarez bullied him a little bit. I know with strikers there’s sometimes a little bit of a jealousy thing there, if someone’s scoring.”
“I felt for him at times. I think he got the rough end of the stick at times with him and Suarez.”
“I’m not saying they never got on, but they both wanted to be the main man scoring. Now there’s no doubt he’s the man.”
Sturridge is now undoubtedly the main man in attack for Brendan Rodgers, a situation that will bring its own pressure but could equally help to bring the best out of the former Chelsea forward.
Rodgers has secured the signing of Rickie Lambert to help ease some of the burden on Sturridge, whilst the collapsed Remy deal would indicate that the Reds are still in the market to secure one more attacking signing before the season kicks off.
