Manchester United’s Exit Shortlist This Summer With Marouane Fellaini And Shinji Kagawa To Be Axed

The players set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

It’s been a summer of change so far at Manchester United with Louis van Gaal taking over as manager and a number of veteran players calling time on their careers at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs has retired to become van Gaal’s assistant, whilst Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra have all left the club for pastures new.

Meanwhile Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw have been bought in and with several new additions still expected, a number of the current squad are also thought to be axed.

Here is a shortlist of those unfortunate few:

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgium international was the only significant arrival at the club last summer after completing a £27.5m switch from Everton on transfer deadline day and has since been widely considered a failure.

Less than 12 months on and the 26-year-old is said to have been in talks with Napoli over a potential move, with the price expected to be a fraction of what United paid.

Javier Hernandez

With Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck all ahead of the Mexican in the pecking order for a place in the starting XI, the man known as ‘Chicharito’ is considering his options.

Atletico Madrid are understood to be keeping tabs on developments, although there are likely to be a number of potential suitors for the striker.

Shinji Kagawa

The attacking midfielder has struggled to settle at the Theatre of Dreams since a 2012 switch from Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga club are interested in bringing the Japan international back to Germany.

Kagawa is going to find it tough to make an impact on van Gaal’s new tactics and as such could welcome a return to Dortmund in the near future.

Nani

Barely used by David Moyes last term, the future of the 27-year-old with the Red Devils seems in doubt with Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and even Wilfried Zaha ahead of him for a place in the team.

Arsenal are said to be among the clubs interested in the Portugal international and don’t be surprised to see Nani’s time at the club come to a close.
