Despite already having captured central midfielder Ander Herrera and left back Luke Shaw in big-money moves this summer, it seems as though new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is keen to continue improving his squad at Old Trafford.

Reports this summer have suggested that United have plenty of money to spend – and if the transfer rumour mill is anything to go by, van Gaal is keen to spend.

Four players seem to be at the forefront of van Gaal’s thinking – although it could cost a staggering £119.4 million if the Dutchman is to land these four key targets.

Angel di Maria (Real Madrid)

United are reportedly locked in a fierce transfer battle with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain to land Argentinian winger Angel di Maria from Real Madrid – although United believe that £45m will get their man.

Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Van Gaal and his club have been chasing the signature of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal from Juventus for much of the season, with the Red Devils moving closer to a £47.4m deal for the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal)

United are continuing their chase of Arsenal centre back Thomas Vermaelen, despite reported interest from Barcelona and Liverpool, with the club hoping that £10m can secure a deal for the Belgian.

Daley Blind (Ajax)

Versatile Dutchman Daley Blind was key for Van Gaal at the World Cup – which could explain the fact that United are so keen to land the Ajax man, reportedly lodging a bid of £17m.
