Marco Reus gives Liverpool renewed hope of signing him

A deal for Reus could still be struck this summer after the Germany international rejected a new contract with current club Borussia Dortmund, reports the Mirror.

The 25-year-old is contracted at the Signal Iduna Park until 2017, but the Bundesliga club could be convinced to sell due to a release clause in the attacker’s contract.

In 2015 Reus’ buyout fee drops to £27m and therefore Dortmund are likely to accept any offer in excess of that price this time around.

Xherdan Shaqiri to reject Anfield switch to stay at Bayern Munich

It looks as if the Reds’ long-term pursuit of Shaqiri is set to end as the 22-year-old’s agent admits he is in discussion over a new deal at current club Bayern.

The Premier League outfit are among a trio of sides, including AS Roma and Juventus, who are keen on landing the Switzerland international.

“He will not be leaving, in fact, we are working to renew his contract with Bayern,” Shaqiri’s agent and brother Erdin was quoted by Tuttosport.

The skipper has endured a difficult period after missing out on the Premier League title, being knocked out of the 2014 World Cup with England and retiring from international football.

Gerrard’s costly slip against Chelsea towards the end of the 2013/14 campaign played a big part in Manchester City winning the title and the 34-year-old has admitted things have been hard.

“It’s probably been the worst three months of my life. I have had two massive, unbelievable lows in a short space of time,” the midfielder was quoted by the Telegraph.

Former Red Luis Suarez training alone in the Pyrenees

Although the Uruguayan has completed a £75m switch to FC Barcelona the forward is currently serving a four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

As part of the punishment Suarez is unable to link up with his new teammates at the Nou Camp and as a result has gone to  mainland Europe to train alone, reports the Daily Mail.

Currently the Barca squad are a St George’s Park, but the 27-year-old has instead headed to the Pyrenees to adjust to hot and humid conditions.

The England international performed a rendition of Drake’s ‘Too Much’ alongside teammate Jordon Ibe during the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.
