Manchester United given hope in Edinson Cavani pursuit
The 13-time Premier League champions have been given renewed hope in their chase to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Cavani this summer.
As the Mirror reports the future of the Uruguay international at the Parc des Princes has been plunged into doubt after the 27-year-old was left off PSG’s latest promotion poster.
United have been interested in Cavani for some time and see the South American as the ideal marquee signing.
Red Devils on alert after Marco Reus turns down new contract
Clubs interested in the Borussia Dortmund star have been given hope of signing the 25-year-old after he rejected a new deal from the Bundesliga club, according to the Mirror.
Reus is the subject of interest from many high profile sides, with Liverpool thought to be leading the race due to their added lure of Champions League football.
Dortmund could well be convinced to sell as although the Germany international is contracted at the Signal Iduna Park until 2017, in 12 months time the forward’s release clause drops to £27m.
Louis van Gaal says club will struggle for first three months
The new manager has sent out a message of warning to the fans that it will take the first three months of the new season for his side to adjust to the new regime.
There have been a lot of positive vibes around Old Trafford since the Dutchman took charge, but with a 3-4-1-2 formation being introduced van Gaal says success won’t be immediate.
“Every club where I have been, I have struggled for the first three months,” the 62-year-old was quoted by the Times.
Yet van Gaal is relishing beating Manchester City
Despite his cautious approach to the start of the new campaign, the United boss says he understands the importance of beating fierce rivals City.
Although the Red Devils enjoyed long periods of success it is the Citizens who have secured two Premier League titles in the last three years and van Gaal is relishing beating Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
“They are knocking at the door but that is good for Manchester United also because where there is competition you can be proud when you are the champion at the end and maybe we will be the champions,” the Dutch coach was quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
Ross Barkley sends out scathing message to Wayne Rooney after signing new Everton deal
Former United transfer target Barkley pledged his future to the Toffees on Tuesday by signing a new four-year contract with the Merseyside club.
Upon penning the new deal the 20-year-old sent a message to his England teammate and former star of Goodison Park, Rooney, about loyalty.
“I knew what it meant when Rooney left. I knew how the fans felt. We thought Everton could have pushed on, so when he left we were all down,” Barkley was quoted by the Sun.
