QPR Closing In On Deals to Sign Ajax Star and Norwich City Midfielder

Loftus Road side set to bring in top notch duo.

QPR are looking to significantly improve their squad ahead of their return to Premier League action and are apparently closing in on two very impressive additions according to the London Evening Standard.

Harry Redknapp is apparently looking to bring in Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer before the transfer window slams shut, having already brought in impressive central defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker.

Loftus Road boss Redknapp has confirmed publicly his interest in Fer, stating;

“He’s a player we like but I don’t know where that one is at the moment,”

“It’s been ongoing for a while but there are other people as well that we are looking at.

“I think we need a couple of midfield players and we have got other targets we are looking at.

“We need to strengthen in a few positions really to be strong enough to really have a go at it this year.”

Similarly there has been public confirmation of the west London side’s interest in 24 year old Icelandic international forward Sigthorsson, with Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars stating;

“I have had some good talks with QPR over Kolbeinn,” Overmars informed Voetbal International.

“We are pretty close to each other regarding the transfer fee. But the player’s demands are obviously important as well.

“I think QPR is a good opportunity for Kolbeinn. Just look at how Wilfried Bony fares in the Premier League. He has already caught the attention of some major clubs after just one year in England.”

Sigthorsson moved to Ajax in July 2011 and has helped the Amsterdam side to three successive Eredivisie titles, netting 28 goals in 79 appearances.
