Bayern to swoop for Real Madrid star

Bayern Munich could be set to launch a late bid to beat both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to AS.

The Bavarian giants are in the market for new signings in attack this summer after losing two influential players in Toni Kroos and Mario Mandzukic, with Di Maria emerging as a top target for manager Pep Guardiola.

The Argentine had looked all set to join PSG, while United have been the other main contenders to sign him this summer, though he may now be set for a move to the Allianz Arena.

Man Utd flop close to Serie A move

Manchester United could be close to offloading last summer’s expensive flop Marouane Fellaini as he agrees terms with Serie A side Napoli, according to the Daily Star.

However, with Napoli only willing to offer £18m, a move is yet to be completed with United holding out for closer to the £27.5m they forked out to sign him from Everton last year.

Despite being a top midfielder during his time with Everton, Fellaini has struggled to make an impression at Old Trafford, and the club will be hoping to seal a deal to see him leave after just one season.

Atletico Madrid want United misfit

Atletico Madrid are eyeing Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez as one of three major Premier League-based transfer targets this summer, according to the Daily Star.

Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla and Chelsea’s Fernando Torres are also in the sights of manager Diego Simeone as he looks to strengthen his squad for next season, and Hernandez could be a good option upfront.

The Mexican international looks likely to leave United this summer after falling down in the pecking order at Old Trafford, and may benefit from a move to a new team and a new league.

Striker uncertain of Old Trafford future

Hernandez himself, however, has admitted he doesn’t know where his future will lie this season, according to the Guardian.

The unsettled 26-year-old has been quoted as saying that “only God knows” where he will be playing his football in 2014/15, with a number of clubs showing an interest in his services.

Hernandez had a fine start to life at United when he joined the club back in 2010, but has since found himself out of favour with the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck ahead of him in the first-team reckoning.

United youngster confident ahead of new season

Manchester United youngster Wilfried Zaha believes he can make an impact at the club this season despite being linked with a move away, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The England international had a tough time in his first campaign at Old Trafford, but believes he may get the chance to shine after David Moyes’ departure.

Zaha feels Moyes never had full faith in his abilities, and he hopes that he can now impress new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal and earn a place in the starting lineup.
