The Gunners are believed to have been boosted by the news that Real Madrid would prefer to sell the German World Cup winner to them this summer as the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea remain keen.

Reports in Germany are suggesting that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are keen on landing the 27-year-old for free next summer when his contract with the Spanish giants expires.

Arsenal, though, have been billed as firm favourites to land his signature throughout the summer but a deal looked to have stalled after Khedira had demanded upwards of £150,000 to join up.

That would have made him the highest paid player at the club but reports close to Real Madrid are now hinting that they will be ready to sell up now instead of losing him for nothing next year.

Real are hoping to recoup a fee of around £20m for his services.

Arsene Wenger is also believing to be close to wrapping up a move for FC Porto winger Juan Quintero after being impressed with his antics at the World Cup with Colombia.

Despite an abundance of attacking midfielders such as Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil in his squad, Wenger is thought to be weighing-up a £16m bid for Quintero.

The 21-year-old linked up with the Portuguese giants last summer after spending the previous campaign on loan at Italian side Pescara, where his progression was hampered by a series of niggling injuries.

His displays in the Primeira Liga earned him a call up to the Colombian World Cup party this summer, and he repaid the faith shown in him by bagging the winner in a 2-1 win against Ivory Coast after coming on as a late substitute.

Quintero was a former target of Manchester United during his time in Italy, but Arsenal are now said to be firm favourites despite having an abundance of attacking midfielders on their books already.
