Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Promises More Transfers This Summer Despite Already Spending £66m

The Frenchman says the club’s spending is not done yet.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that despite having already signed four new players this summer for a combined cost of £66m, Arsenal will be making more purchases before the transfer window shuts.

The Gunners have already signed Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers, but it’s thought that a defensive midfielder, a centre-back and possibly another attacking midfielder are still on the wishlist.

Despite having a reputation for being frugal Wenger has thrown off those shackles in the past 12 months with the club’s two biggest deals in their history, with £35m sanctioned for Sanchez and a club record £42.4m paid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

It shows that the North Londoners essentially have the finances to land any of their targets and this is an exciting time to be a fan of the team as they look to make their strongest push in recent memory for the Premier League title.

Last season Wenger’s men topped the table for more days than any other side and yet finished fourth come the end of the campaign, but with the new influx of talent that could well be changing in the coming year.
