The 10 most selected players by football fans.

With the 2014/15 Premier League season less than three weeks away football fans across the globe are eagerly selecting their Fantasy Football teams for the new campaign.

Here CaughtOffside brings you the 10 most popular picks, with statistics courtesy of the Telegraph.

10. Seamus Coleman, Everton – selected by 21.92%

After an impressive year in 2013/14 that saw the Ireland international score six league goals many have clearly identified the talents of this right-back in both defence and attack.

9. Raheem Sterling, Liverpool – selected by 22.01%

It was something of a breakthrough season for the 19-year-old last time out as Brendan Rodgers managed to channel the forward’s raw talent into an end product, which has seen Sterling recognised as one of the best young players in world football.

8. Yaya Toure, Manchester City – selected by 23.62%

With the Ivorian seeming to have settled his differences with the Citizens the 31-year-old is now ready to build on the 20 league goals he scored from midfield last term.

7. Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal – selected by 24.76%

It’s the exciting new addition at the Emirates Stadium next with Sanchez having completed a £35m switch from FC Barcelona this summer after scoring 19 La Liga goals over the past 12 months.

6. Luke Shaw, Manchester United – selected by 26.43%

Another new signing now, although fans in England know what to expect of this 19-year-old after his two previous campaigns at Southampton and Shaw is also the only recognised left-back at Old Trafford currently.

5. Robin van Persie, Manchester United – selected by 27.36%

Staying with the Red Devils and it’s their prolific striker, who although missed much of last term through injury is clearly expected to shine this time around under former Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal.

4. Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal – selected by 27.75%

After being derided by many – including his own fans – 2013/14 was a revelation for Ramsey who scored 10 league goals and provided eight assists in just 20 starts in midfield.

3. Mathieu Debuchy, Arsenal – selected by 31.72%

Clearly many feel the arrival of this France international is going to shore up the North Londoners’ back line even more, with Debuchy having been purchased from Newcastle United this summer as a replacement for Bacary Sagna.

2. Ross Barkley, Everton – selected by 32.59%

Always considered a prodigious talent the attacking midfielder really flourished under Roberto Martinez over the past year and Barkley was picked for England’s 2014 World Cup squad as a result.

1. Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool – selected by 35.55%

Yet top of the pile is a striker who scored 21 league goals last season and will have a lot of pressure on him on Merseyside to do even better this time around following Luis Suarez’s departure for Catalonia.
