In no particular order, here are 20 of the best players on the planet who have so far yet to win a cap for their country.

Raffael – Brazil

The Brazilian playmaker scored 15 Bundelisga goals last term, but didn’t make his country’s World Cup squad.

Sylvain Distin – France

The centre-back has retired from international duty, but despite his long career as a top level Premier League centre-back, he never earned a cap for his national side.

Graziano Pelle – Italy

Pelle scored 55 goals in 66 matches for Feyenoord under Dutchman Koeman, but has never won a cap for Italy. He’ll now look to light up the Premier League with Southampton.

Dani Carvajal – Spain

A Champions League winning right-back, surely it’s only a matter of time before Carvajal earns his first cap.

Domenico Berardi – Italy

The most promising player to come out of Italy in years, the teenager will surely score a shedloads of Serie A goals, and could earn a first cap next term.

Kurt Zouma – France

Chelsea have signed Zouma, but due to the likes of Sakho, Koscielny and Varane, he has yet to win a cap.

Kiko Casilla – Spain

Regularly linked to Arsenal and Manchester United, Casilla hasn’t been capped yet due to the plethora of top notch Spanish keepers.

Surely the only reason this ultra talented playmaker hasn’t been capped yet is because he plays in Ukraine. Heavily linked to Arsenal.

Another Shakhtar playmaker who’s very highly rated, but has yet to be capped because of the league he plays in.

Michy Batshuayi – Belgium

The forward was rated as the heavy favourite to replace Christian Benteke in Belgium’s World Cup squad, but instead Marc Wilmots plumped for summer Liverpool signing Divock Origi, and Batshuayi has yet to be capped.

Luc Castaignos – Holland

Called into Louis van Gaal’s preliminary World Cup squad, the likes of Robin van Persie and Klaas jan Huntelaar mean the young forward has yet to be capped at senior level.

Calum Chambers – England

If Chambers begins his Arsenal career well, it won’t be long before he’s knocking at Roy Hodgson’s door for a place int he squad.

Alvaro Morata – Spain

Morata’s completed a bumper move to Juventus this summer, and is rated as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe.

Juan Bernat – Spain

Bernat’s been purchased by Bayern Munich this summer, which shows just how good the young left-back actually is.

Roberto Firmino – Brazil 

Double figures for both goals and assists in the Bundelisga last term, Roberto Firmino is creatively wonderful, and still only 22-years-old.

Juan Manuel Iturbe – Argentina

Rated as ‘The New Messi’, Iturbe’s completed a multi-million move to Roma this summer.

Guilherme Siqueira – Brazil 

The left-back has transferred to Atletico Madrid this summer to replace Filipe Luis, after consecutive impressive La Liga seasons with Granada.

Jose Fonte – Portugal

Judging by the performances of the Portuguese centre-backs at the World Cup, surely Fonte has a rightful grievance as to why he’s never been picked.
