Speculation mounts over Liverpool’s links with Mario Balotelli

The Sunday Express are unsurprisingly linking Liverpool with a £14m move for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, following comments from Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, where he claimed that the forward was a “big talent”.

Milan are thought to be open to selling the Italian, who was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this summer.

Liverpool are widely regarded to be in the market for another striker, and they could take their chances over the bad-boy marksman.

Bayner Munich in “no rush” over a move for Liverpool target Marco Reus

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has seemingly ruled out a move for Marco Reus this window, giving fresh hope to Liverpool – who remain keen on the Borussia Dortmund star.

The Sunday Express is reporting that the Reds are now the favourites for the Germany international, who missed his country’s triumphant World Cup campaign through injury, but still hit 21 goals in 41 games for club and country last season.

Dortmund wish to keep Reus, but talks over a new contract have stalled.

Javier Manquillo set to seal a two-year loan move

The Reds are on the verge of sealing their seventh signing of the summer – with Atletico Madrid starlet Javier Manquillo set to move to Anfield on a two-year loan deal, with the view to a permanent £5m transfer.

Reports in the Liverpool Echo suggest that the 20-year-old right-back will fly to Merseyside to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of completing his move.

The Echo adds that Liverpool are also close to completing a move for Spanish full-back Alberto Moreno from Sevilla.

Liverpool chasing Norwegian starlet

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset, and could pay up to £10 million for him, according to reports.

The youngster has attracted massive global attention after a video displaying his skills at club level went viral.
Odegaard is only 15 years old, but has already made 11 senior appearances for Stromsgodset, scoring 3 goals.

He is considered as one of the most exciting talents to emerge out of Scandinavia, and Europe in general, within recent history.

Daniel Sturridge injury update

Liverpool are widely believed to still be chasing a new striker this summer, following the £75m departure of Luis Suarez.

The Reds forward fears are now being exaggerated by concerns over the fitness of current attacking ace Daniel Sturridge, who has been forced to return home early from the Anfield club’s US Tour to receive treatment on a hamstring injury.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has played down the seriousness of the strain, and has moved to reassure fans that the player will be fit for the start of the new Premier League season.
