Pre-season is the time of year when youngsters tend to be given more of a chance by their managers – and can really cement their place in their boss’ thinking for the upcoming season. These ten have all grasped their chance this pre-season and are likely to be seen in the Premier League over the next few months:

Yaya Sanogo (Arsenal)

Young Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo was much maligned last season, after failing to get his first goal for the club – but the Frenchman’s blistering performance in a pre-season friendly against Benfica, where he bagged four goals, could hint at better things to come from the former AJ Auxerre man.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Young winger Jack Grealish could provide some cheer for his manager, Paul Lambert, in the coming season, if the Irishman’s impressive pre-season displays for Aston Villa are anything to go by.

Jordon Ibe (Liverpool)

Tricky winger Jordon Ibe has looked very dangerous during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA, with the former Wycombe youngster looking like he may follow in the footsteps of teammate Raheem Sterling, who enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season last year.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City)

Teenage Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been amongst the goals for Manchester City in pre-season, even bagging one against the might of AC Milan, but City fans may have to wait for a while to see him in action again, as the youngster is yet to gain a work permit.

Lloyd Isgrove (Southampton)

Teenage winger Lloyd Isgrove could be the next start to emerge from the Southampton production line, having impressed new manager Ronald Koeman with his performances in pre-season, including against Bournemouth when the Welshman grabbed the winning goal for the Saints.

Suso (Liverpool)

Spanish playmaker Suso could finally be set to make an impact at Anfield, after spending last season on loan with Almeria in La Liga, having impressed Brendan Rodgers in the USA, bagging a goal in their victory against AC Milan.

Lubomir Satka (Newcastle United)

Tall Slovakian defender Lubomir Satka has made the transition from the academy to the first team at Newcastle United with ease this pre-season, with the 18 year-old impressing manager Alan Pardew and the club’s supporters alike.

Matthew Targett (Southampton)

Young left back Matthew Targett is another player who has impressed Ronald Koeman during the club’s pre-season campaign, with the teenager showing enough potential to suggest that he may follow in the footsteps of Luke Shaw, pictured, who earned a move to Manchester United this summer.

Reece James (Manchester United)

Reece James burst onto the scene in incredible fashion this season, scoring two goals in their 7-0 friendly demolition of the Los Angeles Galaxy, a performance that is sure to have catapulted him into manager Louis van Gaal’s thinking.

Marco van Ginkel (Chelsea)

Midfielder Marco van Ginkel endured a frustrating first season at Stamford Bridge following his arrival from Vitesse Arnhem, with much of the 2013/14 campaign having been hampered by injury, but the Dutchman has been impressive in pre-season for Jose Mourinho and should have a role to play in the upcoming season.
