Man United Look to Bank £60m from Six Player Sale as Louis Van Gaal Prepares Old Trafford Cull

Old Trafford side look to cash-in on unwanted stars.

Man United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to swing the axe as he sets about trimming his expansive squad before the transfer window slams shut.

The Daily Mail reports that whilst some fringe players have impressed the Dutchman, most notably winger Ashley Young, others could well still be on their way out.

Van Gaal will certainly have been impressed with the form shown by his side overall, with Man United securing five wins from five matches during their pre-season tour of North America but it appears a fair few players are set for the chop.

Shinji Kagawa

The Japanese international has steadfastly failed to hit the heights he reached during a hugely successful spell in Germany and whilst one could point to his being played out of position by David Moyes it’s worth noting that the 25 year old also struggled for form under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Some sources claim that Atletico Madrid are keen on the former Borussia Dortmund man, with Vicente Calderon boss Diego Simeone looking to rebuild his side following a number of high-profile departures.

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian midfielder was, perhaps unfairly, made something of a scapegoat for last term’s failures and now Man United will look to garner a decent fee for a player they forked out £27.5m for less than a year ago.

Napoli are one side who have shown an interest in the Belgian powerhouse though a lot could depend on just how much of a ‘hit’ the Old Trafford side are willing to take in relation to their asking price for the former Everton man, who failed to score a single goal for Man United last term.

Javier Hernandez

One has to feel a little sorry for Chicharito. The fan favourite has certainly proven himself a handy finisher during his four season stint at Man United but appears further than ever from a well deserved regular first team run-out.

The 26 year old made just six Premier League starts last term and has no shortage of suitors with Serie A sides Inter Milan and Juventus both keen and the option of a move to Premier League duo Tottenham and Southampton another possibility.

The Mexican has scored 57 goals in 152 appearances, a strike-rate that is all the more impressive when you consider 69 of those were from the bench.

Nani

Portuguese winger has flattered to deceive for a fair few seasons and his career is in danger of stagnating at Old Trafford and it seems likely that Man United’s move to tie-down the 27 year old to a new five year deal was done with the intention of maximising any fee for the wide-man.

Arsenal are said to be interested though a fresh challenge in Italy with Juventus or Inter Milan may prove more likely.

Anderson

Brazilian midfielder struggled with his fitness at Man United and was sent out to Fiorentina for half of 2013/14 and doesn’t seem likely to figure in Louis van Gaal’s plans next term, not least following the summer capture of Ander Herrera.

Man United are willing to accept as little as £5m for the 26 year old which shows just how desperate the Premier League side are to get rid of the former FC Porto man.

Wilfried Zaha

The young winger has made just two sub appearances for Man United since his £15m move from Crystal Palace and was then loaned out to Cardiff City in January.

Zaha must be wondering why he was even signed by Man United and the 21 year old may well be keen to leave before he wastes away on the bench. This source claims that offers of around £10m may lead to a summer move with London sides QPR, Crystal Palace, West Ham all keeping tabs on the England international.
