PSG are reportedly close to selling Ezequiel Lavezzi, with Liverpool interested, and will likely replace him with Angel di Maria.

Here’s how they could line up next term with the Argentina sensation in their side…

GK) Salvatore Sirigu

PSG are happy with their Italian goalkeeper, who was totally solid for the duration of their Ligue 1 domination in 2013/14.

DR) Serge Aurier

The talented Ivorian was voted into the Ligue 1 Team of the Year last season, and will add ferocity and a barnstorming offensive presence to the PSG back-line. He can defend, but is capable of scoring and assisting as well.

DC) David Luiz

The Brazilian defender was a figure of fun at the World Cup due to his totally rash performance in his country’s 7-1 semi-final humiliation. However, before then, he’d already sealed a deal to join PSG from Chelsea for almost £50m, making him the most expensive defender of all time.

DC) Thiago Silva

The world’s best centre-back, Thiago Silva is a superb defender. He’s composed with the ball at his feet, brilliant positionally, and unnervingly strong.

DL) Lucas Digne

The young Frenchman made 15 Ligue 1 starts last term, but will likely be given more opportunities this time out to truly grow into the role ahead of Brazilian Maxwell.

MC) Marco Verratti

Another Italian in the starting XI, Verratti sits deep and dictates tempo for the Parisians, thanks to his superb technical ability and array of passing.

MC) Blaise Matuidi

The engine in PSG’s midfield, Matuidi provides industry, tackles and interceptions, but is also capable on the ball, and can burst forward and join in attacks.

MC) Yohan Cabaye/Thiago Motta

Motta was a virtual ever-present last season for PSG, but January signing Cabaye has more than enough ability to warrant a starting spot as well. We couldn’t choose between the pair.

AMR) Edinson Cavani

Cavani has confirmed that he’ll stay with PSG this summer, but with Ibrahimovic demanding a centre-forward role, expect the Uruguayan to be mainly deployed on the right.

AML) Angel di Maria

No player in European football assisted more goals than di Maria last term. He can dribble, cross, play intricate through balls, and shoot on goal himself. Expect him to cause carnage in Ligue 1 next term.

FC) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

One of the true greats of world football, Ibrahimovic has scored goals relentlessly since moving to France two summers ago, and will likely do so again.
