Daniel Agger begs manager Brendan Rodgers to let him leave Liverpool

The Denmark international is reported by the Mirror to have had a tearful heart-to-heart with the boss during the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Agger took the Northern Irishman to one side in the dressing room and begged him to let him leave Anfield this summer, something Rodgers is expected to grant him.

FC Barcelona are now the favourites to sign the £12m rated defender.

Napoli’s Rafael Benitz to return to former club to try and sign Lucas Leiva

The Spaniard is looking to sign Lucas from the Reds after talks with Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini have broken down, according to the Sun.

Benitez knows the Brazilian midfielder well having signed him for the Reds back in 2007.

Lucas is understood to be frustrated at his lack of game time under Rodgers currently and would be open to a reunion with his former manager in Naples.

Bayern Munich slammed for public pursuit of Reds target Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund are angered by their rivals’ dealings with Reus in which they have publicly declared their interest and details about the 25-year-old’s contract.

The Daily Mail reports that Dortmund CEO has slammed opposite number at Bayern,  Karl-Heinz Rummenige, for decalring that the Germany international has a £19.8m release clause.

This doesn’t come into effect until next summer, but it’s thought the Bundesliga club will accept a knockdown fee for Reus in this window, with the Merseysiders keeping tabs.

Rodgers eyes up Mauro Icardi or Klaas Jan Huntelaar as Luis Suarez replacement

Following the £75m sale of Suarez to Barcelona this summer there is now a big gap in attack for the Merseyside club.

That is why the Mirror reports they are keeping tabs on Inter Milan’s Icardi and Huntelaar of Schalke 04.

The former is still just 21-years-old and thought to be available for around £16m, whilst the Dutchman represents the more experienced option at 30-years-old.

New £10m signing Divock Origi aiming to be the world’s best

After completing a £10m move to Anfield this summer the Belgium international was immediately sent back on-loan to Lille by Rodgers.

Now the 19-year-old has revealed that his new boss has given him the task of becoming the best player in world football.

“He [Rodgers] wants me to become one of the best players in the world,” Origi was quoted by Sky Sports.
